The past couple nights Lorelei had not been sleeping well. She also hasnt been doing too well at her nap. LAst night We decided to try some cereal in hopes that it would make her sleep. As soon as we got everything turned off and climbed into bed around 11, she woke up. We went in there and she had gotten out of her swaddle, so we swaddled her back put the paci back and left. She kept crying, every time we'd go back in there she would be back out of her swaddle. So finally I went in there took the swaddle off, put her in a fuzzy sleeper so she wouldnt get cold and laid her back down and she still cried. DH suggested we try putting the sound machine in her room. So we went in and plugged it in and turned it to thunder very loud. She still cried. We didnt know what else to do. I kept going back in every few minutes and rubbing her belly, and I noticed she had some gas which I assumed was from the cereal. Eventually she went to sleep. Its 8:30 here and she is still sleeping, unswaddled, with the sound machine blaring.

I obviously want to get her to continue this, I just dont know what it was that made her sleep. Being unswaddled? The sound machine blaring? The fact that it is raining outside? The cereal? I cant tell which one it was! I guess I will just have to try it all again tonight and see. I may try leaving her unswaddled at nap to see if that helps too.

Shes getting old enough now that swaddling may irritate her. Alot of babies over 3 months start hating swaddling b/c they can move around so much now and it bothers them to be wrapped up (from what ive read )

But I think she probably just wore herself out fighting sleep for so long. Im glad she is sleeping good right now.

Well I am sorry that it started out so difficult. I hope you figure out which thing or things made her sleep so long and get it to continue only it starts out easier for ya!

Well, I'm glad she is still sleeping! I think our situations are very similar when it come to our LO's. Sometimes the only way I can get Melia to STAY asleep is to turn the vacuum on. It can't be a small vacuum it has to be the loud ground shaking vacuum. One night when she was never sleeping through the night I gave her a bath at 11p then massaged her w/lotion. I then fed her with the vacuum on. That was the best night she had ever slept! To this day I'm still doing EVERY think the exact same way because I don't know exactly what it was that worked so well. I have slowly quit using the vacuum during her feeding and only turn it on if she fidgets when I lay her down. (What we'll do for a full night of sleep!) If I were you I would do everything the exact same way except for the noise. Only turn that on if she starts getting fussy and then turn it off after she falls asleep. I hope you find a SIMPLE bed time routine.

That's funny, because I swaddled Erin for the first time in a while last night and she slept from 10:30pm - 8:30am! I think she might have been cold the other nights though.

i'm glad she slept through the night..even if it was torture getting her down..i think i'd try all of it..except maybe pick a softer sound and see how she does

Fox hasn't slept through the entire night for me in SOOOO long..he goes to bed about 10 or 11 then is up to eat at about 4 or 5..no where near an eight hour stretch..boo hoo!! It wouldn't be SO bad if i didn't have to get myself up at 6:30 to take the kids to school and stuff..i miss the summer days of all of us sleeping in till 9 or 10..lol

Well I'm glad she finally slept. I hope she continues to sleep well at night but that it won't be so difficult to get her down.
