Are you using a crib bumper on your baby's crib?
I know there are now SIDS warnings out about using these, but yet they protect them from getting banged up on the rails...
So what are you doing? Dylan has his bumper on right now but it makes me nervous....Ive thought about taking it off but I dont know!

All my kids used the same crib and the same bumper set and they are all fine. Also my kids are all sound sleepers and really don't move in their sleep.

GAH! This is an issue for us right now. DH wants, so badly, to put the bumper back on cuz Squish is constantly waking at night when he bumps his head. Remember, he sleeps on his belly (SIDS commandment #1 broken!) and he scoots in his sleep around 1-2 am. We get up about 3 times on average to move him away from the sides.
I don't know, I told DH that I'd rather lose sleep than my son, but he he's used to turning his head while on his belly...
Seriously, I don't know. Yesterday I was 100% against the bumper but today, ...

I am not using a bumper. I have seen a "breathable" mesh bumper that fits tightly to the rails that I am thinking about using. I didn't use one with Camille either. Just about a month ago an 18 month old baby died here because he got tangled up in the bumper and strangled himself.

We took them off very early around 6 weeks. DH was like why did we even buy them! I am paranoid, her crib is in our room and will probably stay there for a long time. She moves around at night alot but I rather her bump something than get caught under a bumper.

I've seen the breathable one. Looks interesting. If you decide to get it, let me know how it goes.

I was actually just thinking about this yesterday. I think what I'm going to do is have her sleep in a wedge that way she can't move around. Plus then I don't have to worry about her rolling on to her belly.

OUrs is still on, but Ashton doesn't move around at night. It will come off soon. He's in bed with me more than his crib anyway.

Quinn sleep swaddled so he can't move. I guess I didn't really see them posing a problem till you brought it up. Now I'm worried. I guess once he doesn't sleep swaddled anymore we will consider taking it off.
At what age are babies no longer at risk for SIDS?

Here is you some info:
Quote:
At what age is the risk of crib death highest?
Crib death is most common between one and four months of age, with 90 per cent of cases in babies under six months, though babies are still considered at risk up to the age of one year. Crib death occurs most often during sleep (but not always), usually between the hours of 10pm and 10am -- the usual hours of extended sleep. Also, crib death is more common during winter.[/b]

SOURCE FOR INFO
I dont know what I will do about his bumper! He is starting to move around alot. DH thinks Im silly for worrying about it and thinking of taking it off. He doesnt want him getting banged up on the rails but I dont want him suffocating on the bumper either!

Ours is still on the crib too, and I worry about it. If she starts moving around alot at night I will probably take it off.

Jasmyns bed will be the playpen so its not an issue for us. If it was, I probably wouldnt use the bumpers. Even though I did with all the boys!

Get the breahtable baby crib bumper!!!!!!!!!!
I have it and LOVE IT! It was only $20 from Target (BRU sells them too). It is 100% safe because it is mesh, it keeps arms and legs INSIDE the crib, and you can even use the drop rail on the crib with it on. You can use it until they are 2 years old. Best product ever, I swear! Megan was waking up crying with her legs stuck in the crib rails and this fixed the problem! I got this about a month ago, wish I just would've gotten it in the first place.

I am getting the mesh one like tomorrow ahha
and its best because sids can happen even if you baby doesnt roll into it
something about restricts proper air flow and is bad for them
thats what the health nurse told me when she saw my crib

We have the bumper on but it is tied up on the bars top and bottom and is very secure so there is no chance that it will fall off onto her face
hmmm im starting to think maybe your bumpers are different to ours? lol
