On wednesday we started the whole CIO thing. Yes I know some of you are thinking, "what a horrible mom, I can't believe she did that to her baby." Well, I guess its my choice and when it comes to parents I'll give most things a shot.
Surprisingly, its going really well. He doesn't quite have the hang of it yet but its getting better and better. Thursday and friday we were out and about all day with appointments and getting the puppy and whatnot so he slept in his carseat most of the day. Therefore we weren't really able to let him practice going to sleep in his bed. But today he has done it for all of his naps and it takes less and less time. Like the last nap (which he has now been sleeping for an hour) he only fussed for 11 minutes. He isn't even really crying anymore. Just fussing.
And when he wakes up hes really happy. He doesn't wake up crying, he wakes up talking. This morning I just laid in bed and listened to him on the monitor. So sweet!
I feel like he is actually a HAPPIER baby because of this. I'm proud of myself that i have stuck to my guns and done this as much as I didn't want to.

Oh good for you!! I don't think you're a bad Mom, I think you are doing what is right for your son!! He's got to learn and he's NOT too young for it. He's getting good naps, good sleep and being happier for it!! Good job!
Good for you glad its working you just keep on doing what you know is best and the heck with what anyone thinks.. In the old days CIO was used a lot and neither of my kids was scarred from it...........or were you anges

I'm so glad things are working out for you! I just read your update post.
I am *sorta* trying this with Jett. It tears my heart out. Last night he screamed and cried for about 30 min before I went and got him. I will not let him cry longer than that.
When I picked him up, he supp-supped for about 10 seconds then he was soo happy. That was the only reason he was crying. I usually take him back with me and let him stay up a little while longer then I put him back to bed and don't pick him back up because he goes to sleep very quickly by then.
I guess I'm not doing it ALL the way perfect but it is getting better. It's just so hard.
