Joel has been backed up since we went to Maine a month ago... He pooped probably 3 times in the month of October. The ped said I needed to give juice every day to keep him regular. I REALLY did not want to give him juice EVERY day! He is EBF and I want to keep it that way for a bit longer. She said in passing that it could be my consumption of milk in ice cream or cheese for example. I looked that up and the protien passed on in breast milk from cows milk can cause constipation (and colic like symptoms) in babies. Not the same as lactose intolerance. Anyway, I cut out the big milk products(can take 10 days to 3 weeks to see results) and Joel has pooped 4 times in less than a week!!! 4 TIMES!!! So, none of the milk biggies for me for a few months. Poor guy!
Silly how exciting poop is. He had gone 10 days before the dr appt.... Now I can't get him to stop! I think I had forgotten what a poopy diaper looked like. It isn't too bad with out the milk stuff. Basically, if the baby isn't too sensitive, the mom can eat thinks with cooked milk like bread and cake.... I just omit ice cream (BIG weakness!!!), cheese and milk on cereal... The good part is that I don't eat much snack food anymore. I've lost 2 lbs in a week!
