Do any of you do anything for charity at Christmas? Do you donate toys, money, your time?

I always buy toys for Toys for Tots. I hardly have any money this year but I will still scrape up whatever I can to donate. There are so many people who are less fortunate. I feel fortunate and yet guilty every year that we have so much. This year I feel even more grateful. I have the best gift that I've ever received. I will get to see Christmas through my child's eyes. What could be better than that?

I'm going to see if there are any local soup kitchens that need some help on Christmas Eve or something. My DSD, Amanda, will be here. I'd like for all of us to go volunteer. I think it's important to teach kids the importance of helping others.

Do any of you have any ideas on ways to give to the community without having to spend a lot of money?

I donate Mikaelas old toys, we did that about a month ago. Stuff thats still in good shape but that she just dont play with anymore ya know? Mikaelas preschool, which is run by a church, has a few charity things going on as well and Ive given money to one of them already. They are also doing a "shoebox" thing.

we give canned food at the holidays in the grocery stores and if I have a little extra cash I give money to the Salvation Army bell ringers.

I always donate a toy or two to different organizations. I bought a book the other day for a book drive for needy kids, I picked Goodnight Moon since it was one of Sam's favorites. I also will donate a toy through the Bereaved Parents organization that I belong to.

My mom and I always pick a tag off the tree too. Its not really as much fun anymore though cuz you can't wrap the present. Wrapping is the best part. This year we will probably buy two though since I have my own family now I would kinda feel cheap just buying one from both of us.

Sarah, I agree about the wrapping. The angel tree thing is always such a nice thing to do. There aren't too many places around us that do it though.
