We took Ben to see Santa on Sunday. He was at lunch at the time so we had to wait in line for a bit. We were right next to a jewelery store. They had red and green balloons taped up all around the top of the store for decoration. They alternated red and green and it looked nice and festive.

There was a woman in line who had 2 kids. The one little boy who was about 2 years old was having a fit because he wanted a balloon. So the mom went over and ripped one down from their display. Well tape was still stuck to it so she tried to take it off. That caused the balloon to pop. The kid cried so the mom gave him the popped balloon which he proceeded to CHEW ON!!! I wanted to smack some sense into that woman. Later she went over and ripped down another balloon for the kid.

It came time for them to see Santa and both of her kids freaked out and they couldn't get a good picture. No one in line felt bad for her because we all thought she was an idiot.

Seriously, it really irks me when people don't know how to say no to their kids. They just give them whatever they want to shut them up. That is what is wrong with so many kids now. They get whatever they want and don't know the meaning of the word no.

Oh and what kind of a moron gives a 2 year old a broken balloon to chew on???

Omg Susan, what an idiot!! That crap ticks me off too!! Everyone says Jay and I are "strict". But you know what, Kayla is a GREAT kid!! She's polite, she has manners, she's not rude, she doesn't interupt adults when they are talking, she doesn't throw temper tantrums in stores for something and she never has, she knows that good behavior gets good rewards and that negative behavior gets groundings and spankings and things taken from her.
She is spoiled rotten but she's GOOD! I'd be so embarassed to take her somewhere and hear or see people talking about what a brat she is. Instead, we have people tell us she's wonderful and polite, if she spends the night somewhere, the parents always tell us she was an angel and can stay anytime!
I hate bratty kids!! I hate stupid parents even more!

Paula, Amanda is the same way. She is and always has been a great kid. She never throws temper tantrums. She is spoiled in some ways but she doesn't act like it. She's the most polite and well behaved kid you'd ever want to meet. She may have a lot of stuff but she appreciates what she has and takes care of her stuff.

My parents wouldn't ever put up with that either. I think that's why we are all pretty much good people. We respect others. My mother would NEVER have just taken those balloons. She may have asked for one though. But she probably would just told us that they belonged to the store and they weren't for kids.

We didn't have much money, so we NEVER asked for things in stores. I've always hated seeing that too.

People are stupid. That wouldve made me mad too. Who in their right mind lets a baby chew on a broken balloon?

DH is very hard headed about things with Lorelei. He always wants to just take her stroller up the escalator in the mall and I get very mad at him for it and refuse to let him do it. We even went shopping with my mom one day, and she was like, "Its no big deal we'll just hold the stroller tight." Well, today I was in the store and an announcement came over the loudspeaker asking people to not put strollers on the escalator because a baby fell out this past weekend and got hurt. I sure gave him a lecture about it this evening and he wont be trying to do that anymore. Sorry to threadjack.

That's ok Ash! I hate that too. It annoys me when I see people taking them on the escalator. They tell you not to do it for a reason! I never knew where all of the elevators in the mall where before because I never had to use them. Now I'm always looking for them.

OMG!!! If my kid was acting like that in the first place, they wouldnt have stayed in line to see Santa. Grrr.
There have been a few times we have been somewhere and Mikaela will see some parent letting thier kid so something that Mikaela knows is wrong or looks wrong & she'll ask me why they are doing that and Ill tell her (loud enough for the others to hear) "I dont know. Your not supposed to do that, its very bad for kids" (or ya know, however the situation relates) Its kinda funny, cuz the stupid parent always gives me the evil eye after that!!! LMAO.

I cant stand to see parents allow thier kids to act that way and then do something like that woman did-ripping display balloons down just to try to shut her kid up! And then allowing him to chew on a busted balloon. ***?
And the workers didnt say anything to her for tearing thier balloons down?

Melissa I say stuff like that too to my stepdaughter. It bothers me when parents do stupid stuff to shut their kid up. I agree that if my kid behaved like that in line we wouldn't have been seeing Santa that day. We would have gotten out of line and went home.

The store workers didn't say anything to her but they were looking around like I can't believe she just did that. I don't think they knew what to say.

Oh I do the same thing!! Say it loud enough so I know they heard me! lol I get dirty looks too. Dh KNOWS I'll say something, so does my Mom. lol
Another thing that REALLY makes me Irrate....Kids in shopping carts, standing!!!! OMG>.....my blood BOILS!!!!!
I worked in a grocery store and saw a kid fall out because they were standing and DIE!!!!! Omg...it was horrible!!!
EVERYTIME I see a kid standing, I tell them...sit down, you're going to hurt yourself. A lot of time parents make them sit or a lot of times I get rude comments like, Mind your own business or the parent tells the kid..It's ok, you're fine. I become livid!!!!

Omg Paula, that is horrible!!! The kid died?
I never let Mikaela stand in a shopping cart!!! Never! Thats just asking for trouble!

I also cant stand driving next to people and seeing them with a 1 or 2 yr old and NOT in a carseat and just bouncing all over the back seat-no seat belt or anything!!! I just hate that!!!

Paula that one bothers me too. My parents were at a grocery store last year and saw this kid misbehaving. The mom finally put the kid in the cart and he wouldn't sit down. The mom turned a corner the kid lost his balance and fell out of the cart. He cracked his head open. The mother is now suing the store of course.

Yeah Melissa, the kid died. A little boy, maybe 2.
And I honk at cars with kids in the back not buckled and I signal the seatbelt to the parents... 9/10 times..I get flipped off.

Susan, that is just typical! It says right on the d@mn carts NOT to let children anywhere but the seat.
