Today is the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. Take a moment out of your day to pray for the people from all the various countries in the world who lost their lives in WWII. And don't forget to pray for the people who are still living on without them.

And thank a vetran for fighting for your rights!!!

Proud to be the grandaughter oof a WWII veteran! (stationed in Hawaii after the U.S. entered the war, and living happily at 93!)

I just wanted to bump this, as I was thinking about it earlier today.

My grandfather was a WWII vet. Unfortunately, he died when I was 9, before I really understood what that meant and could ask him about it. I'm sad about that.

There are plenty of vets of other wars in my family though (my older brother [not the one I showed you a pic of earlier, but the other one!]). I wrote a nice little card for my brother on Veteran's day. I hadn't ever thanked him before, and I really felt like I should.

Anyway, yeah, I'm really impressed with people who would put their lives on the line for people they don't know.

My whole family is full of veterans. My dh was gone for 16 months to Afghanistan just recently, got back in February. My father and mother met at an Officer's Club in Washington D.C. (she was Navy he was Army National Guard, like dh). My aunt and uncle on my dad's side are vets, my aunt's husband (my other uncle connected to my father) is a vet. I was going to join, but the month I was talking about it, I got pregnant, didn't know it when I was talking about it, but I was pregnant.

I didn't come across one today that I know of. The story of Pearl Harbor fascinates me though. I'm so thankful that we have so many men and women who are willing to fight or have fought for our country.

my husband's dad helped out the army during the attack on pearl harbor(he lived in hawaii)

it was neat that my husband has that bit of history that his dad helped the country even though he was not even military

my husband said all the buildings that got shot at and whatnot on the military bases have remained there because its history and people still work in them today

when we went there in march he showed me where the japanese came in near a pass by the mountains and there is a cross there.

we did go on the memorial and the park rangers demanded that everyone be quiet, no talking, which is the right thing to do because its a graveyard, but there were two kids that were running all over (they were 9-10 years old) and i wanted to push them overboard because i dont think they understood what piece of history they were standing on and what a sacrafice these men and women did for the country.
i got a picture of it and the wall that is on the memorial but its on my cell phone

I would love one day to go to Hawaii and see all that is left from that battle. It is such a great piece of history
