These just make me sick to my stomach. Schools are suppose to be a safe place to send your kids and now with the violence, teachers sleeping with students, and all the other crap, it's just scary!!
The other day here, a teachers husband went into her 5th grade class and STABBED her in frontof the kids, left and went home and killed himself. *** is wrong with people?

Oh no. It always makes me wonder how many signs that something was wrong kids that do this displayed before they actually do it. If there were signs why didn't someone do something? Were the signs ignored or was something done but it wasn't successful?

OMG I bet!! I mean how terribly tramatic for an adult to see something like that!! I cant imagine a child!! And to see it happen to someone like a teacher!!Not a stranger, but someone you look up to and admire! Its just aweful!! I mean the guy should have an additional charge, for scarring them for life!!

Paula I heard about that too. It kills me though when students go and do this to each other. I wish they could hold the parents responsible more often. Not too long ago (in Philadelphia I think) there was a student who was planning a shooting. He discussed online with someone else who contacted police. His home was raided and they found an arsenal of weapons. There were guns galore. He was like 15 I think. His mother had bought the weapons for him!!!!!!! Who in their right freaking mind would buy stuff like that for a 15 year old? To buy a teenager a gun to go hunting with a responsible adult is one thing but buying semiautomatic weapons and things like that is just insane.
She is now on trial.

Susan, I just read a thing on line that kids usually show very few signs before they kill. This is awful Jessica. Honestly, I am sick from worrying about sending Camille to school. It terrifies me.

Ashley, I think in a lot of cases the kids who do this kind of stuff often show signs of depression and alienation. I think you are right that they may not show signs that they are going to go on a killing spree but I think very often it's obvious that something was wrong.
It always amazes me that students will say that they thought something was wrong with the kid and that they were afraid of him but the parents say that he was a perfectly normal well adjusted kid. Maybe sometimes the kid is able to play off two different personalities but I think in a lot of cases parents turn a blind eye to their kids problems rather than dealing with it.

You are absolutely right. They almost always show signs of a mental illness and are usually "loners".

Susan, I heard about that too. It's just sick!! If I thought for one second my kid would do something like that, or even th ought about it, I'd have them arrested myself!!
Here is the info about the shooting today.
Police: One Student Shot at Tennessee High School, Shooter in Custody
Last Edited: Monday, 11 Feb 2008, 11:43 AM EST

02/11/2008 --
A Tennessee high school is on lockdown Monday after a shooting in the cafeteria left one student critically injured.
Investigators are on the scene at Mitchell High School in Memphis, Tenn. One person is in custody.
The injured student was believed to be in critical condition.
Monique Martin, a police spokeswoman, confirmed that a student was shot Monday morning, but said she did not know the student's age or gender.
The suspected shooter is in custody, said Rita Cooper, a spokeswoman for the school.
"A student was shot by a classmate in the cafeteria during a physical education class that was being held in that area," Cooper said in a statement.
The district's automated phone alert system notified parents about the shooting.
A 16-year-old student was shot in the leg earlier this month at another Memphis high school.

It's horrible for that one student but thank God it wasn't even worse. We don't need anymore stories like these ever again. It's just so awful.

This is yet another one of the many reasons I'm seriously considering homeschooling my children.
So very sad, but like Susan, I'm glad it wasn't a lot worse than that.

This is why Jett is going to be homeschooled. We have already made up our minds.

that's so sad...
We almost had a school shooting here. At first the news reports were all praising the school for how well they handled the situation and "saved" the school from having a shooting.
Later found out from the first report of a student having a gun, it took almost 2 HOURS for the principal to do anything about it
