She had a scheduled C-section at 37 weeks. She said "Honestly, I didn't want any vaginal tearing. I have heard horror stories of women going in and having to have an emergency C-section anyways. The hardest part was deciding on his birthday. I wanted to leave it up to fate, but at the same time I was ready to be done early."[/b]

I personally think it's a bunch of BS. If she absolutely had to have a c section, she should have waited longer. They could have easily been off on her dates and the baby could have had some problems. But what dr would do an elective at 37 weeks?!

I agree with you, Danielle. The thing is, it's easier for them to get a TT right after a c-section............

I guess it's true that money talks , even with drs. I also think it's BS...she should have been a woman about it, and let fate take it's course (here's an idea, let the baby's birthday be a surprise!!) ... celebrities are so SPOILED and out of touch with reality!! Makes me sick! Ok, I'm off my box now

I think even if you're going to schedule a C/S, your baby should have the longest possible time in the womb. Every baby at 37 weeks is different though. I don't really know.

The reason that so many women have to have c-sections is often because they were induced labors to begin with. They body isn't ready, the baby isn't ready and the situation because dangerous and results in a c-section. They are also easier on the Drs schedule as well as the families schedule.

I think that it's insane that a Dr would perform a c-section at 37 weeks for no medical reason. I also don't understand why a woman would be so much more afraid of vaginal tearing that she would be of having her stomach ripped open and a baby removed from it. I don't personally understand why women choose to have c-sections if there is absolutely no medical need.

It's because she and her husband do EVERYTHING naked. Apparently everything is about sex and it would kill her to have a less-than-perfect vagina...

I have a problem with celebrities too. They try to be so perfect and they make normal women feel inadequate because who has the money to be that "perfect"??

What I really don't get is how they think a c section scar is better than some vaginal tearing. People are more likely to see your tummy then your girly parts so I think a c-section scar would be more obvious. I guess it's because they can afford plastic surgeons to make the scars minimal.

Probably.. and then too, it's hidden by panties if they take a bikini shot or whatever but too, think about this, they have airbrushing for photos if they wanna pull a nude one.. kwim?

Ugh. The whole subject makes me sick. The c-section just because, her way-too-perfect PP body (like you can tell she's had stuff done IMMEDIATELY because HEAVEN FORBID she look like she's just had a baby... ), the early planned birth, etc. It all makes me want to vomit.

They disgust me.

LOL There I go getting all crazy.

Ugh, are you kidding me? Erin was induced at 38 weeks, for my sanity, and now I still feel guilty because I know she wasn't ready. My Dr. said he wouldn't do it any earlier because even at 37 weeks there's a possibility of needing a NICU and he didn't feel comfortable with the resources nearby. He didn't want me to have to deal with life-flighting a baby to Salt Lake City because we needed a better NICU.

Wow, yeah, that disgusts me. I had a 2nd degree tear with Cora and I was pretty well recovered in 10 days.

I bet you can't say that for a csection!

You're right. I can't say that. I still have some issues with my scar, and I was still in quite a bit of pain 2 weeks later.

Anyway, that's way too early. I don't like the idea of elective c-sections for your first baby anyway. My first was because of a breech position that wouldn't turn with an ECV. I would have LOVED to have had a vaginal birth. I still feel a bit like I missed out.

What money can buy you...

unfortunately, I don't think schduling a c-section for non medical reasons is just a celebrity thing. I have a girlfriend who acually did that with her 2nd and 3rd babies

Seriously, it makes me sick. It shows that the mother has her own interests in mind instead of her baby's.

I think it is crazy/ She even rescheduled so she wouldnt have her baby on the same day as Nicole Richie. She didnt want to share the spot light. I am surprised the doctor did it at 37 weeks.

I meant to add I think alot do it because they can get tummy tuck at the same time. Because who really is photograpghed at 3 weeks post partum looking like a super model. And we wonder why normal women have issues with our bodies. Look whats thrust in our face 24/7

I think it was an incredibly selfish choice for her to make. ESPECIALLY at 37 weeks. What if he hadn't been ready to be born? I just think it's ridiculous and sends such a horrible message to expectant mothers who don't know any better.

Renee I couldn't agree more. Not only do they often have tummy tucks done but when they do these magazine layouts just a few weeks PP they are dressed by professionals and have had their hair and makeup done by professionals. Then any "flaws" are airbrushed out. The rest of the "real' world doesn't have access to those things which then leads us to often feel inadequate.
