I was down past the middle of her back too!

We bought her some new pre-school workbooks and one of them called for scissors, so I bought her the scissors that "only cut paper". Well, her hair was in a ponytail when she cut it, so she took huge chunks out of the ponytail part. I had to cut it to her shoulders Oh I am so sad! I've only cut it twice before and was so excited about having it long for the summer. I asked her why she cut it and she said, "Because I wanted to look beautiful like a princess". How can you get mad at that? Oh well, Ari loves the new cut and I know it will grow back. I'm just being a baby. It was sooo pretty though.

Awww, that sucks! You know what, though? Every kid does it sometime. At least, that's what I've been told.

Oh no!!!! That is sad!!!

It seems only natural for girls to have that story to tell though . My mom always reminds me that I had all of my hair one length until one day i decided to give myself some spiky bangs.

Grow hair grow!!!!

oh no! I am sorry, but her answer is SO cute! How can you be mad at that? LOL. I am sure it will grow back quickly! I cut my own hair when I was 4. I think most girls do that. Sorry that her long locks are gone though!

Oh no!! How sad! I bet she still looks cute. I think we need some new pics of her. My sisters and I used to do that all the time and it would make my mom so mad.

I'm sorry but I have to laugh. It reminds me of the time when I cut my hair while watching Mommy Dearest. I cut my hair because I felt so sad for the little girl.

At least she likes her new haircut.

I'm glad to know it's a common thing! My mom said my little sister cut her hair when she was almost 3, but she cut it to her scalp! They had to cut her hair just like a boy and comb it over to hide the bald spot! Too funny!!!

I'll get my camera ready and take some pics. Thanks for the responses girls!

I'm sure she is just as beautiful as she was with long hair! DH and I were just talking about when kids cut their own hair. It would be fine if my boy did it....but NOT Lainey! So I bet your super upset. But the good thing about hair is it always grows back. Can't wait to see the pic.

Aww that sucks, but it's SO common! She probably won't ever do it again if that makes you feel better.. and at least she did it, and not some other kid- can you imagine how MAD you would be??

I would have been upset too. My daughters have those scissors that are only suppose to cut paper too. They cut anything. Anyhoo, short story, something similar happened about a year ago with my youngest, she has beautiful blonde hair and had all these ringlets, I have no idea where she got them but they were so beautiful. She went to her fathers one weekend, he knew not to touch her hair, he let his live in g/f or whatever she is, I didn't even know until after he brought her back and he was gone, she took off all her outer clothing and something seemed different, I took off her hat and all her hair was cut. All the ringlets gone, they never grew back either. I cried. Then I ripped him a new one. Hugs.

I CHOPPED my bangs when I was 4... there was like nothing left... It was just before picture day at school so I have these awesome pics of me with no bangs... funny now. I was on dd all the time about never cutting her hair, I am very paranoid. But I really do think most little girls do it at some point, I'm sure Ari looks adorable, and maybe it'll be nice and cool for summertime.

Awww i'm sorry Amber. I would be upset too. Just know that she's still frigging adorable and this will make for a great story. I also cut my hair as a child. THankfully it wasn't too bad though. Just be happy she didn't chop it to the scalp!!!

Wow! That is crazy how most of you had similar stories to tell! Jenny, I would be sooooo upset if another child cut Ari's hair! Oh my gosh! But y'all are right... I'm just thankful it wasn't cut to her scalp! Yikes!

LOL, I was the kid who cut another kid's hair! But he cut mine too . . . I don't remember it but our parents told us when we were older. His mom said she came around the side of the house to check on us and he was cutting my hair (I had already snipped his). His mom was afraid my mom was going to murder her she said!

Your girls are so pretty I'm sure her hair is adorable!
