So tonight I am changing Andre's diaper and (sorry TMI) he had pooped but there in the diaper was a PENNY! It wasn't really in the poop but more like on top of the poop to the side. I grabbed it with a wipee and it wasn't covered in poop but just like it had some on it (again sorry TMI). So I am freaking out. I asked him if he ate a dollar (he calls any money dollars) and he said no. So I call the nurse hotline and they told me since he had no symptoms to just keep an eye on him but he should be ok. Told me that if I had seen him swallow the penny that doctors would have me watch him and keep an eye on his stool till he passed it. So since he already passed it, he should be ok. Also told me to keep an eye for blood. He seems completely fine. So then I asked him again if he ate a dollar and he told me he put it in his pocket. So now I am wondering if he thought he stuck it in his pocket but actually put it in his diaper by mistake. Eeekkk I just don't know what to think. I know that with us being in the middle of moving and everything everywhere he probably found the penny lying around. I just feel so bad that he even had his hands on it to begin with. I told DH and he didn't seem to worried. I guess since it was already in his diaper we should just be happy he passed it. But I am still freaking out... what if he ate more than one? I am keeping him in bed with me tonight just to keep an eye on him. I feel so guilty like I wasn't watching him good enough.

That would have freaked me out too! My first thought was that he stuck it in his diaper. It seems like it would have been more "imbedded" in poo (oh, the things we talk about as moms! ) if he had actually swallowed it. ((HUGS)) I'm sure that gave you a few more gray hairs!

It sounds to me like he stuck the penny in his diaper. I'd think if he actually swallowed the penny it would be covered in poop.

Try not to worry. At least he didn't drink the "juice" from a liquid ant trap! Max did that and he was sitting right next to me. You're a great mom. These things happen.

Thanks ladies! I am thinking maybe he did stick in it his diaper thinking he was putting it in his pocket. He seems completely fine but I am still keeping an eye on him. I just started worrying like crazy last night, that what if he did swallow the penny what if he swallowd more pennies?!

Angela, good thing I dye my hair, I'd be afraid to know how many grays I might have!!! If I didn't I think Andre would have me gray by 40 for sure!

Aaah....SURPRISE! That is so scary! I remember we thought Kyle ate Kemp's watch battery and I just felt my blood run cold and I was terrified! I'm sure he is okay, even if he did eat it and pass it...I think one of the girls who used to be in this PR found a crayon in her kid's poop! Oh the things they decide to eat!! But I do agree that maybe he just stuck it in there! Either way, way to freak you out!

I am thinking he probably stuck it in there too. Gotta love kids! My cousin swallowed a quater once and they just waited for her to pass it. I wouldn't worry about it now because even if he did swallow it it's out now and BTW kids eat things and I am sure this wont be the last time something like that happens

I was thinking if it was not covered in anything then chances are that he just put it in his diaper. I am glad that he is okay though if he did not and did end up swallowing it.

it probably fell into his diaper. i know i change addie and find some crazy stuff...like food that falls down the front of her diaper. brayden said he ate a token before and we took him into the er and they did an xray and there wasnt a coin in his body

Aww don't worry Rhonda, kids do stuff like that all the time, it totally doesn't mean you're a bad mommy! I stepped out of Owens sight for like..less then 60 seconds when we were visiting family and he was a yr old..2 other people were in the room and he still managed to swallow 2 of my Brother in laws A.D.D pills! I was freaking out but the poisen control people and the doctor both assured me they hear way worse on a normal bases.
My friends 2 yr old son got his hands on a BB gun this past weekend and shot himself in the finger Kids are just sneaky.

It sounds to me like he stuck it in his diaper though, and even if he did swallow it, at least he already passed it
