Hows counting and Alphabet coming along with our little ones?
I was flabbergasted a few days ago when she counted to 20. No idea how she learned that and she all of a sudden knew the whole alphabet? We go over it allllll the time but she never would do it when I asked her to. Then out of nowhere, BAM! She's a funny girl. DH and I just stared at each other in disbelief!!

Uh, Carter can count to 3 by himself, but he'll repeat me when I count higher. He's not always clear and sometimes he flat out refuses when I ask, but oh well, lol.
He doesn't say any of her letters clearly, but he "hums" the alphabet song, lol.
WTG Clara on counting to 20! That's impressive!

Lauren can count to 12 by her self and follows me up to twenty. Everytime we go up and down stairs she counts and the last one is always with a jump She can sing the whole alphabet clear as a bell. Some times she gets stuck on L M N P O though. I stop her and haver repeat after me, but she belts out the ABC song all the time even with the end.. now I know my ABC's..... and she sings it too. She just cracks me up!!
WTG!! Clara!!

They are amazing. Macy can count to about 10 or so but knows the alphabet song really well. The leap frog Letter factory is a great DVD to help with the letters..she loves it!!

M's fav song is the alphabet. She will even sing the last part "now I know my abc's, next time won't you sing with me". It is adorable. I videotaped her yesterday, she kept wanting to sing it over and over. She can count to about 14 before she gets them mixed up but thinks she is counting to 20, hehe. She also counts to ten in spanish.

Ava sings her ABCs and can recognize all but about 3-4 capital letters and about 1/2 of the lower case. She can count up to 14 or 15 but then gets mixed up getting to 20 without help. I swear she's like a sponge because we don't take a ton of time working on this stuff with her and I know they do some at daycare, but it's not drilled in by any means. Amazing.

lol Preston did the same thing to us one day, we never went past ten when teaching him how to count and one day he just kept going all the way up to 20! We figured someone else in our family must have counted with him or the tv did it lol.

This sounds like Cassidy. She goes up to 20 by herself stops, I haven't gone further than that. A few weeks ago she stopped mixing up 15 and 16 (she'd say 14, 16, 15 ,17). She knows all her capital letters (sometimes P and Q get mixed up) and knows most lower case. She used to say big and little but know she says upper case and lower case. She has alot of letter/number books, blocks, and puzzles, so she's learning it all in fun, but we do work on it. I'm not drilling it- she drags these things out and wants to play with them, I just kinda coach. The blocks (imaginarium- awesome) have a letter (one side is lower, one side is upper), a number (one said has the number and one side has that number of items, like fish or whatever) then it has a side with a shape and a side with a pattern, so she also knows all her shapes and patterns now. Those blocks are awesome. Now we are working on the minor phonics, nothing major, just mmmm is m and nnnnnn is n, etc. Nothing too over her head. She only knows a few that way so far. We get out those blocks and stack them, I'll say here is an L, etc, and all that, and then we let sydney knock them over. so i do make it fun- sounds like i don't but i do!

Kinley has been singing her ABCs for a while....but just in the last 3 months or so you can really understand what she is saying.....the "next time wont you sing with me" part too. She also goes around singing twinkle twinkle-she knows all the words....and frosty the snowman! lol
She can count to about 15 and can count to 5 in Spanish (thanks to Dora as well lol)
We will be shopping and she'll bust out her ABCs.....really loud and really well-and everyone just smiles and laughs as we go by lol she won't sing it quietly! lol
OOh and she uses the tune to Frosty for everything.....like the other day it was "gracie the doggy, is a dog, dog, dog, dog, dog...." lol....we have a poodle named Gracie lol ooooh the things kids come up with!

Heidi can count to about 15 by herself.
On her ABC's she knows them all off by heart and is starting atm to spell words also.
She identifies words that i write say i write Jump she will say "oh jump" and then do then jump.
She sure keeps us on her toes as she wants to learn 24/7 a day.
We gave her a 30-40 peice puzzle the other day with back picture to go off and within a week shes mastered it and knows where every piece goes.

Are you kidding?? With Camden as a brother lol? Camden is obsessed with letters and numbers so Teagen has no other option but to be consumed by it. She knows all of upper and lower case and has since last fall (from Leap frog Letter Factory), I just asked her to count and she counted to 26 before she got all pissy and ran off lol.
She's got colors too. The only thing she needs to work on is her shapes.
I got a sight word DVD for them and they've been watching those alot, I'm hoping she picks up on them the same time Camden does.
But to be fair, I teach 3 and 4 year olds that cannot recognize ANY letters or numbers, can't count over 10 and know no shapes. Each child is different.
My Logan was like that...he had no time for learning.

Lauryn is funny about this. She has always been funny about speaking. She can count, I ask her how many blocks or whatever on on the ground and she will tell me correctly, but she won't do 1,2,3..... So I don't know. The alphabet is like that too. I say show me A and she will then I say or grab anything that starts with that letter. So I would say she knows the stuff but she won't be verbal about it. She knows her colors and shapes too. Ovals and circles are still hard for her, but she knows them.
