I have to say we were quite surprised at Jocelyn's lung power and her strong insistence that she not get shots today. Our lovely child screamed loud enough to get us looks of symathy/concern/horror on our way out. Even the nurses had wide eyes. I wish at this age they could grasp the concept that shots are just a tiny part of life. But we all hate shots, hey they do hurt like heck! I just never would have even thought of screaming like that at any age. But I am sure they have had worse kids. AT least she didn't kick anyone or anything.

For the first time our FP annoyed me today. I am probably just knitt-picking. She kind of came across of telling us how to parent. Jocelyn should only have this much tv a day or she could get ADHD, Diabetes. She should be in some kind of an organized program. She should be holding scissors and cutting, drawing rudimentary people, doing chores and getting an allowance, writing a letter or two like "o", putting away her dishes, taking her folded clothes to her room, help do errands like helping with little sister, treat her like a little woman, not a toddler, etc. I don't know, it is good that they want to see the kids are on track for development, but some things were so basic or opinionated. She should know us by now, we have had our kids go to her for 4 yrs now. DH and I have both gone to her as primary. We aren't stupid. And Jocelyn can do all the above and then some.
I should have said yes jocelyn can write a couple letters....as well as read many words, fold clothes herself, help unload dishwaster, take karate, picks up choking hazards w/out being told for little sister, talk well on the phone, leave the cutest darn messages ever!! says she sure wishes she could meet grandma and grandpa (my parents are deceased), talk a mile a minute, sits quietly in church, converse clearly with adults, plays well with others, says "okay mommy" when she is told she can't have this or that toy at the store, etc and etc. I know you all feel the same way about yours. Gosh I love her to death!

Oh and then she kind of snapped at us after she let us know Jocelyn would be getting three shots and nasal mist for flu. Jocelyn did not look happy about it and we were just explaining that the shots will help her not to get sick later, when dr said "it is better to not talk about it and move on".
No, we are not going to make a huge deal about it but we know our child and she is super-sensitive type and it helps her to talk things out. Ahh, now I am miffed again. I wonder if we had been able to go slower if the shots would have gone better. They kind of tried to go as fast as they could getting them in, which is understandable when the child is screaming, but that is not how Jocelyn works. Slow and steady. Hmmmmm

Thanks!! How is everyone else's 4yr check up going? I think Jocelyn is over 97% for height/weight. Size 5-6 pants, 5 shirts...sorry so long of a post

I'm sorry you are frustrated with your doctor, but it sounds like Jocelyn is doing great!!

Meredith has her 4 year well check-up tomorrow. We've moved since her last doctor's appointment, so she will be seeing a new pediatrician. Mason saw him at his 4 month well check-up and he seems great, so I am hoping Meredith's appointment will go as well as his did.

I'm nervous about how Meredith will do with her shots. She gets more strong-willed and opinionated by the day, it seems. At one appointment she got shots and said "Thank you for checking my legs!" without any tears, but last time she cried. This time I'm not sure! I've talked to her about it (She likes to talk things out, too.) and she doesn't seem too concerned but we may have a meltdown tomorrow!!

I'll update after her appointment tomorrow.

Sorry your doctor was being crabby It really sounds like Jocelyn is perfect, even above average, so I'm sure the doc was just trying to cover all her bases

She's a big girl! Cassidy has always been small, weighs 31 pounds and is 38 inches tall. She's just getting into 4T pants but wears 5T shirts and dresses.

Thanks for sharing!

Wow - worry your doctor was being nit-picky and kind of rude. i agree you should have told her she can do dishes and Karate and drive a car I had to explain to DS about the shots helping him not get sick ... and even our Pediatric doc explained that to him too since he was so nervous about it.

Sounds like she's doing great though!!!
