Today we were out at DH's grandparent's. I kept having this feeling like my underwear was wet and several times, I would stand up and a tiny bit of fluid would come out. It was never anything major, but it was enough that I noticed it and since I had the pop and gush that happened Friday night I was a little worried. I didn't say anything because I didn't want all DH's family freaking out over it so I just kept an eye on it and went about my business. It happened again for about the 4th time today right as we were getting ready to leave, so when we got in the car I told DH what was going on. Of course he was like, call L&D, it's not gonna hurt anything and it would be better to know for sure. So, I called. Of course, they were like we can't tell you if your water is leaking over the phone so you'll have to come in. So I got there, had it happen again in the bathroom as I was standing up after I finished peeing. This time it was actually running down my leg...so I wasn't imagning it...lol.

So they checked my cervix...still 4cm and 80%. They checked for fluid and it was negative. So, after being monitored for what seemed like forever the nurse finally comes in and tells me I have a UTI and I'm contracting every 10 minutes...totally wasn't feeling it. And since I'm so close to my due date they decide that I need to be hooked up to IV AB's to make sure we kick the infection before delivery. So, I got my IV and all is well I guess, other than I'm still contracting I guess. Not that I can really feel it...lol. Apparently what I thought was just baby movement is actually me contracting...at least that's when it was showing on the monitors. I'm still having the gushy fluid thing happening since I've been home. I also kept having it happen when I was in the hospital too. I even asked her to test for fluid again just to make sure and it was still negative. So I guess it's just discharge or I'm peeing myself, although it's clear and doesn't smell like urine at all.

Hope the UTI settles soon, and that next time you feel something leaking it's the real deal.

Wow, what a day. I wonder what else it could be. I had two of the strip tests done with my first when I was feeling leaky and one came up positive and the next neg. Not sure how reliable they really are, but either way sounds like you are really close to meeting the little guy!

I did a little research and one of the sites said that if you have rupture of the membranes for more than 24 hours the strip test wiht the paper can be a false negative. Did they do the fern test too, or jsut the paper?

I had a similar issue in a previous pregnancy. My first in fact. It wasnt until I refused to leave until they checked again that they did a sterile spec exam and had me bear down while they were checking that the leaking fluid was found. Her head was acting like a cork. Just a thought. It was very frustrating for them to keep telling me I was peeing when I was SURE I wasnt.

She pushed around really good in there when she was checking my cervix. Didn't feel good at ALL...lol. But, she said the baby's head was low, but still "bouncing around in there", so I don't think it's corking anything. No fluid came out at all (obviously) when she did that and I felt him moving up and down as she was pushing....ow. I had the same thing happen in my last pregnancy around 27-28 weeks. I had a UTI (which can cause incontinance....fun. ) and really didn't think I peed myself, but I did. So I'm really think that's what is causing all this. Just one more fun pregnancy symptom....

That's kind of scary about the leaking fluid. I hope she's right and it's not amniotic or anything. Did they think they're going to see you back in a few days for L&D???

Glad you went in and found the UTI so you could get it knocked out quickly... It sounds like the UTI mixed with the CTX are causing a small incontinence issue- lovely isnt it? I hope the tests were right and its not fluid- keep an eye out for signs of infection either way. I too think we will be meeting you LO very soon- sure sounds like it!

Thanks girls!

I'm feeling much better this morning. I think the UTI was bothering me a LOT more than I thought it was because all the sudden, my back ache is gone, as is the crampiness I've been having for the last few days. I still have an oral AB I need to go get filled today, but I think the AB's I got yesterday helped calm it down a lot. No more leaking anything since last night either. Contractions got worse and were definitely noticeable and 8-10 minutes apart last night, but they tapered off around midnight and I slept pretty well after that. Now I have a million things to get done today since I got nothing done yesterday and we have full days for the next 3 days!! So, if this baby would just hold off til then, that'd be great! I'm thinking he will. I really think I still have another week at least, possibly 2 or more at this point. I just don't feel like anything is "imminent".
