I know you Cali girlies are probably used to this, but here in Indiana we aren't!!! This morning while I was browsing through JM, I started to notice my chair was moving. Then the water in my water bottle on the desk was moving. It only last for 30 secs. maybe a minute tops. I ran into the bedroom and asked Paul if he felt it. He did too. Then the guy on the radio comes on and said, "If you just woke up and felt like the world was moving, well it was. We had a minor earthquake." SCARIES!!!

I'm here in Indiana too and the earthquake was felt around here as well. I was in the shower, so I had no clue as to what was going on, but reports on the news said that several people in our area felt the movement. Crazy!

OMG it shook and rattled my entire house for 90 seconds this morning!!!!! It scared the living daylights out of me! It centered only 90 miles away from me (I'm in Terre Haute, IN-- it centered in West Salem, IL) and measured 5.2-5.4 (I've heard both measurements on two different news broadcasts).

How close is everyone else who felt the quake from West Salem, IL?

They're saying it was felt well over 300 miles away!

I'm in Southern Illinois and felt it, too. It was actually centered in a town about an hour from me, over by Indiana. I had no idea what it was when it first started, since obviously I'm not very alert at 4:30 in the morning, but later realized that's what it was. It was crazy! I know we've had some smaller ones, but nothing that big (5.4).

I'm probably one of the closest one's. West Salem is about an hour east of me. I'm actually in Salem, IL, which a lot of people get confused with West Salem. It's 2 totally different places!

I'm in the southwest suburbs of Chicago (from what they said, about 250 miles away from West Salem), but I was sound asleep and didn't feel a thing.

Just like here in Indiana... Terre Haute and West Terre Haute are two totally different places!

Anyhow-- I'm 90 miles from West Salem, so you would be closer... by about 30 miles.

Just curious

I didn't realize there were so many of us so close to each other!!!

Yeah, I've read a couple local news articles on it as well. It was also on our news this morning, then I caught clips on the Chicago and Indianapolis news as well.
