So, despite the emergency ultrasound I had yesterday, today's wasn't cancelled, so I went in anyway. So, went in with a full bladder, and waited about half an hour to go in for the ultrasound. The technician was a man, very very nice. Told me how he never had children because his wife died 34 years ago 6 months into their marriage. So, he started the ultrasound. He asked me how many I had had for the pregnancy, and I told him this was my third, and that up until now, no fetus had been detected, but we had see a gestational sac and yolk sac so far. So, he's doing the exam and I asked him if everything looked okay. He goes, "I have no clue what I'm doing. I'm just the janitor". After the abdominal exam, he told me to get changed into a gown so he could do a transvaginal exam. When I came back, he had lost all the pictures from the abdominal part of the exam. Being as he was male, he needed a female present to do a transvaginal. The female technician was doing an x-ray on a little girl at that time, so I had to wait about 10 minutes. The female tech came in and said I could lay down. Then I had to insert the transvaginal transducer into my vagina. The male tech searched around for a few minutes and found the gestational sac and took it's measurements. The female tech looked at me and asked "What do you see?" I said I saw the sac and the yolk sac. "Anything else?"

There, just beside the yolk sac was the tiniest little flash. A beautiful fetus with an even more beautiful heartbeat of 102bpm!!!
