I was just wondering If anyone has had this test done yet? I just got back from my 33 week Appointmnet and my doctor said next time I ( in 2 weeks ) come In she's gonna do the Group B test. She said everythings ok and at 37 weeks she'll start checking my Cervix. She said I measureing on time even though Im kinda on the smaller side. So far Ive Gained 26 Pound's and Measureing 32 CM....But she hasn't changed my DD yet.

Without a preterm labor risk they generally don't do the GBS swab until around 36 weeks.

its a really easy swab my old dr used to give you the test to do on yourself in the bathroom. the thing is the results can be positive but you not be positive when you give birth. and vice versa. which kind of stinks because then women who need the antibiotics arent getting them and other women are getting antibiotics they dont need. if its positive all it means is you were positive ON THAT DAY. it's good to get the test done of course, but really stinks they havent created a quick test that you can have done while in labor - that would make more sense., anyway its nothing to be afraid of! you dont sound to be measuring too far behind, and in my experience how you measure and the size of your baby dont necessarily go hand in hand.

I just had my 32 week visit yesterday and haven't had it yet and they didn't mention when it would be. I don't really remember with my other 2 but it seems like my Dr does it more towards the last month, like 36 or 37 weeks maybe.

I'm requesting that they do mine at 33 weeks so that the results FOR SURE are back. i had to have IV antibiotics last time which just sucked and we ended up with a bad case of thrush. Ive never been + before but they insist on antibiotics for all if the results arent back/

I'm having it done at my next appointment and I'll be 36 weeks going on 37 weeks. It's such a quick swab and I honestly barely noticed my doctor had done it last time I was pregnant and she said, ok I'm done!

My doc does mine at 37 weeks. She said if the test is negative, she may go ahead and request that i get a dose of antibiotics since i had group b strep when I was pregnant with Claire.

Test results done this early will be irrevelent unless you go into preterm labor.
Why would they change your DD?

my preterm labor risk is why I'm asking for it early but honestly I dont care if I go all the way and it's irrelevant. I know to watch the baby. I just need that I passed in my paperwork to avoid one more unnecessary intervention.

For some reason I must have been tested at like 15 weeks pregnant and I was positive for it so they said that I would need the anitbotics when I go into labor. I never understood why I was tested so early at the time I had a UTI and with my first son I also had an UTI around the same time but didn't get tested for the strep b until 36-37 weeks. So I guess for safety they are saying I need the antibotics.
