Hi there, I'm fairly new to the Justmommies' forum. I joined in october and just never really got around to posting. Anyway, on to my question.

My midwife was appointed to me ( Thanks to the medicaid system) and she is fairly neglective. I went in for a strep throat test because I was displaying symptoms and she tested me and told me that the results had to go to the lab. (At my normal doctor, the test is a 2 minute procedure.) I kept calling and the results weren't in the first two days and she wasn't in the third day. I just figured it was a sinus infection and went on. 2 WEEKS later, her tech called and said I was okay.

Then I got tested for Gestational diabetes on April 2nd and the same thing happened. I called and the results weren't in the next day she wasn't in and I figured no news is good news after trying to contact her for a week. APRIL 22 rolls around and her tech calls and says that I need to go for a restest because I flunked my Diabetes exam! Now, the hospital informed me that it takes 2 hours for the tests to get back to the midwife and I've been calling all day and no luck, she's in another town, she's at lunch, she's busy. So is there a way I could report her? or get switched? I know it's rather late in the game (My due date is June 23ish. She's not the best at due dates either) But could I ask for the OB in her office? Or could I contact someone to put in a complaint?

Can you check with your insurance and see your options? Or - YES - request another midwife or see an OB in the office. I would express your concerns IMMEDIATELY!!!

I would be looking for a new m/w or doc. If she doesn't seem to care about me I wouldn't want her responsible for my baby. Good luck!

You absolutely can report her. That's pretty neglectful to not get back to you in a reasonable amount of time about test results, even when they are negative (though in her defense, not all doctors or midwives have a rapid strep tester in their office so some always have to send out the culture it's just not getting back to you within a day or two that is not excusable). Contact medicaid and insist you be allowed to see someone else.

I would do whatever you could to go to someone else. If you are comfortable with your Dr or Midwife, it will make all the difference in the world!

I'm sorry you're having such a bad time with her! I'd report her if you feel like she is neglecting you. You deserve better
