How often were your other children awake during the night as newborns?

Andrew was up every two hours for almost 9-10 weeks. He didn't stop night feedings until probably 5-6 months.

All 3 of mine were up every 3 hours during the night until they were about 2-3 months old, then they got to about 6-7 hours per night by 3 months...I would put them down between 10-11 and they would sleep until about 5 or so...but that was also usually the time I transitioned to formula because i went back to work...

mira was up every hour b/c of reflux, Tessa would sleep 5 or 6 hour stretches once she hit the 6 week mark, Levi had his nights and days screwed up for a long time and would cluster feed 1/2 the night.

I don't really know. I nurse and by 2 months I sleep through the feedings and my babies just latch themselves on and nurse. Ani started sleeping through the night some time around age 6 (LONG after she had weaned!), Cameron at just under 3, and Fritz was my surprise since he stopped waking at night around 14 or 15 months. I think Ani nursed every 1 1/2-2 hours at night until I nightweaned her at 15 months when I was pregnant with Cameron, Cameron nursed every 4 hours at night until he was 5 months old and started nursing all night long, and Fritz woke up ever couple or three hours until he was around 6 or 8 months and then it decreased from there until he just started sleeping through the night.

i was SOOOO lucky with emily. i bottle fed, and after the first 2 weeks, she slept all through the night. she would take a bottle before bed, wake up 8-10 hours later, and take a big bottle, then fed every 3 to 4 hours during the day. she weighed almost 9 pounds at birth, and gained well, so the ped wasn't too concerned with us waking her up for nightly feedings. ahhh to be this lucky with CJ LOL

Claire was eating every 3 hours (6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, 12am, 3am) as a newborn. She would eat at midnight, then again at 3am until she hit 5 weeks. That's when she started sleeping through the night-from 11pm to about 7am. At that point, she just wasn't wanting to wake up at night-even to eat, so we would feed her at 9pm, then do a little "top of the tank" feeding at about 11pm and put her down for the night.

Jake went down for the night at 8 p.m. as a newborn (just something he did on his own) and would wake up about every 3 hours to eat. When he hit maybe 3 months or so, he was getting up once a night (around 1 a.m.) to eat and continued doing that until he hit 7 months. He didn't sleep completely through the night (8 p.m. until 5 a.m.) consistently until he was 7 months old. And I can count on one hand the amount of times he has not slept through the night since then--oh I hope this baby is a good sleeper like Jake. I'm praying.

Both of the first two settled into about 3 hours round the clock sometime in the first week. David started going 6 hours at 6 weeks and was doing 10 hours through the night by about 12 weeks, then he would wake for a really early morning feed and then sleep a few more hours. Maya took about 4 months to sleep that long because she had reflux mainly.

I hope it goes so well with this new baby... being up all the time really takes a toll on me.

Mine didn't sleep through the night for a few years but that's b/c I nursed and never let them cry it out and got up and got them at the slightest peep. This one I may wait a few mins to see if she settles back down. They were up every few hrs...they were never on a schedule though b/c we're not on schedules. Now they are on a pretty good schedule...we may try to get the baby on a schedule right away instead of waiting.

I'd say he was up every 2 hours at first and stretched to every 3 hours or so. Then he just gradually stretched out and started sleeping longer and longer between night feedings. I think the first time he slept 6 hours in one stretch he was probably around 10 weeks old. I'm not 100% on the schedule because I'd just go with the flow, I didn't have him on a real schedule back then. Just basically nursed on demand although I did try to make sure he was nursing for a complete "meal" - not just snacking all night long. Sometimes that worked sometimes it didn't.

Thanks! i am hoping that this LO sleeps better than Andrew did/does. He still has nights were he wakes up & it's a struggle to get him back to sleep. My Mom says I was the same way.

Nicole was up every few hours but she always wanted to nurse. That is one of the reasons why I had to stop because I felt like she was on me all the time.

You know I honestly couldn't say, it's all a blur LOL. I do know my last two were not bad at all, my first was a nightmare and I never slept.

Brooke didnt completely and consistently sleep thru the night until she was over a year old, she stopped breastfeeding at 7 months, but she would still wake up just for the comfort of knowing someone was coming to pat her butt til she fell back asleep. Every night was different with her.
