Has anyone tried to take anything back to Target without a receipt or gift receipt?
We received a Fisher Price Papasan bouncy seat, but we didn't register for it, and got no gift receipt. I thought I had read a loooooong time ago that they won't let you return anything without a receipt over 20bucks. I've tried to sell the sucker on Craigslist, but no luck. They run for 50 bucks on the Target website! I WANT TO TAKE IT BACK!

The Target out here will not take anything back without a receipt that is over $20. They will also only allow 2 returns per year and are super rude and stingy about that policy. It's the exact reason why I don't shop at Target anymore. Have you tried selling it on Ebay? I hope you're able to take it back!

I thought about selling it on eBay, but the box is pretty big, and I think it would be a pain to ship. I'm going to try to take it back anyway...who knows, maybe I'll get lucky!

You know, you could always try to take it back somewhere else. Other stores sell them too, like Baby Depot, Babies R Us (though they have a strict return policy), and Wal-Mart might sell them also.
I hope you're able to return it!

Heehee...I already tried Babies R Us. They have the same seat, but in a different color. They wouldn't take it because it wasn't in their system. Boooooo.
Didn't think about Walmart! I'll check and see if they have it online....
ETA....walmart.com carries it, which means our walmart will take it back. They take ANYTHING back. Only thing is, it's cheaper at Walmart, and I'd rather have the gift card to Target, but beggars can't be choosers! I just want it out of our cluttered nursery!

I'd say sell it on Ebay. It would be a pain to ship since the box is so big, but you'd be able to charge A LOT for shipping, most likely more than it'll actually cost to ship it. But if you don't wan to go to the trouble to put it on Ebay, then ship it, I'd take it back to Wal-Mart.

I think our Taget you can take stuff back over 20 dollars but the thing is when you return without a receipt then you get the lowest price the item has ever been. So you might not get the actual value for the item.

Good luck!! I hope walmart takes it back for you. I know that the Target here won't take back any item over $20 without a receipt. It's a pain in the bum to return anything to Target even if it's on your registery!!

I think I'll just take it back to Walmart, I don't even have the energy to try to take it to Target!
Thanks ladies, for all the suggestions!

I thought I heard at least over here that if you dont have a reciept of any kind then you can only exchange it for something in that department. KWIM? Why dont you call Target and find out?

just an FYI, i got two slings on my registry with no gift receipts, one was from target, the other was from walmart - they were the exact SAME item, so i tried taking them both back to walmart.....the SKU's were different though, so they would only return one....i went to traget next and they were probably the rudest customer service people i have ever encountered, and i ended up having to call the person who bought it for me, and asking them to dig out the receipt to give the lady the receipt id number and a vpc number or something...it was super embarrassing but i HAD to take it backk..
the bad part? target's sling was 31 bucks, walmarts was 26 bucks...i HATE target...

LOL!
Yeah, I bought something a few months ago for a friend at work who was having a baby shower. I bought it off of her registry, but I forgot to get a gift receipt. Someone else bought her the same thing...she couldn't take it back. So I gave her my original receipt so she could take it back. LOL!

Yep, I was going to say to try Walmart, they will take almost anything back, even if it wasn't purchased there (b/c so many of the stores carry the same baby stuff). Target has gotten really bad with their return policy. It's just ridiculous.

I agree with everyone
The bad thing is that Walmart will probably change their policy soon since all the other stores have and now they are getting dumped on from returns from other stores, you know.... ugh....

UGHH I HATE TARGET returns...its soo aggrivating, i got a sling mailed to me from a friend (that i accidently registered for) and tried to take it back but b/c all they sent me was the shipping order they WOULDNT take it back b/c it was over 20 bucks ... they said i had to call my friend and get her to ship me the receipt OR have her look it up on her account and print the receipt..... SO im going to try to sell it....
