okay, i was told the baby was breech, but technically he is transverse (head on the right side butt on the left). i have been reading about transverse positioning and the websites all say that cord prolapse is 20 more times likely in a transverse positioning. so, if my water breaks, the odds are pretty good that we will have a cord prolapse to deal with . now i am freaking out. every little pain or twinge, i will think i need to run to the hospital, because i don't want to go into labor anyone else have a transverse baby before? if so, what do you think about a cephalic version to turn the baby?

I agree about getting away from Google!
It is true that a transverse baby is more likely to have a cord prolapse, but at the same time it's not *as* dangerous a prolapse as if the baby is presenting with a head or butt. If the baby is presenting with a body part in the pelvis and a cord prolapse occurs they put pressure on their own cord. That is extremely dangerous. If the baby is transverse and the cord prolapses it is not as bad a situation since their body is in a position so as not to put pressure on the cord like that.
Cameron was transverse until 38 weeks. He turned on his own. My friend had an attempted version (her son was butt first) but it didn't work and she said it was painful. A version working (or turning on their own) is much more likely with a transverse baby since they have less of a distance to go.
As for worrying about your water breaking, that actually only happens in a relatively small percentage of women before labor begins. Did your water break before labor or early on with your daughter?

I know how you can read too much and get freaked out. Everthing carries risks, but I'm sure you and your baby will be just fine. Hang in there, and NO MORE GOOGLE!!!

I agree def stop looking at google!!! Although with google I did find out that, only about 10% of women actually have their water break before they go into labor....so thats super good odds!!! You aren't likely to have your water break before you get to the hospital.....
