I am wondering if any of your more experienced ladies can tell me what is supposed to go on at the appointments. I hear about some of you having internals or paps, or pushing around to find your uterus and whatnot.

I have sat at a desk and chatted with a nurse then a doctor twice, I pee in the cup, get weighed and check BP and that is it. Now the first 2 the appointments followed a us so there was no reason for a dopler but is that why nothing else is done. I have an appointment this week without a US so should I expect it to be any different?
thanks

having a pap depends on when your last one was done, umm, when I go to mine, I pee in a cup, get weighed, get blood pressure checked. then when the dr comes in they ask how I am, if I'm having any problems, or questions, talk about whatever may be coming up,u/s, tests, whatever, or will go over results from the last u/s or tests. then she lays me down, measure my uterus, and check for heartbeat with the doppler. that's about it!

I wish I could help you but my dr sucks. I pee in a cup, get weighed, nurse checks my BP and asks how I am feeling then the dr comes in feels my stomach looks at my chart and thats it. I have to have a list of questions and make her stay in the room for more than 2 minutes if I want to get anywhere at my appts. She is supposed to be keeping a close eye on me, but she doesn't do anything...I am looking for a new dr.

I've usually always had a pap and bloodwork done at the 1st or 2nd appointment and its usually always about time or past for my annual one. They weigh me, check my bp, I pee in a cup. Then the doc comes in asks how I'm doing, goes over my weight, bp, and talks about any test results if I had any and talks about any tests that may be coming up. Measures my belly and listens to the baby's heartbeat.

The first one for me is the pap & u/s and stuff. After that, the appointments are pretty boring. A normal appt is pee, weight, BP, and 5 minutes of talking. If there's any blood work to be done, I'll know about it in advance (1st appt and 16 wks) and can either do it at the office or schedule it later (because my office is an hour from home, and there's a lab near my house). My old doc didn't start measuring my uterus until around 24-28 wks. This time I'm seeing a high risk doctor, so he checks every time. They also use the dopplar each time to find the heartbeat. If they can't find the HB, I'll have a quick u/s on the little portable machine. Mine doesn't start doing internal exams again until 36 wks unless you're showing signs of preterm labor. There's also a swab test (quicker than a pap) at the end (36 wks?) to check for Group B Strep (harmless to mom but dangerous for baby). Since I'm having a c/s, that test doesn't matter. I'll probably skip it.

I go in, pee, weight, measure fundus, listen to baby with doppler and Dr ask me questions. First apt usually is a bunch of questions, u/s, pap and past sexual history.

I refuse internals until about 40 weeks.

The first few visits I had an internal exam to attempt to give me a due date and to do some testing. My last visit was super short: pee in cup, weight, BP, doctor came in to listen to LO, measure my belly, and talk about how I was feeling.

I expect Mondays appointment to be just as short!!

I do the whole pee in a cup thing, and get m BP and weight done. Then the midwife comes and chats with me for a while, and then she checks my measurements and the baby's heartbeat. Then I'm done, or if I have bloodwork due, they do that. On my first visit I had a pap and internal done, too.
