Two of my baby books said that most women (of course not all) see their biggest weight gain in the 5th and 6th month. Then it slows down. It was actually very true for me with Joshua. One of the books said specificially that the bulk of the entire weight is gained in those two months. My third baby book mainly averages out the weight evenly. Just thought I'd pass that along for those of us seeing jumps lately. It is hope at least, right? I am up 15 pounds at just over 24 weeks. I think I am going to do okay!

It would make sense because this is the period right before the baby really starts gaining so we need that stored up food. Right? That's what I"m telling myself!! It's definitely not all the snickers and white bread I've been gorging myself on.

Oh that is exactly what happened to me with Lauryn, and I am sure some weight is coming on now too. My pants are feeling more snug in areas they weren't before. I am up 4lbs so far, but I think this month that number will double at least hehe

Wow, that is kind of surprising to me! I know I don't eat as much in that last month or so but I thought that is when the baby put on the bulk of the weight (something like a half pound or more a week?) so I assumed it would be the same for the mother but lets hope you are right.
Yesterday at my appt, I checked in weighing a whopping 34 lbs more than my first appt at 5 wks. The doctor joked with me saying "Thats it, no more. Didn't you read that the normal gain is 25-35 lbs? Well I guess you are cut off now!".. I just laughed b/c that is just his humor but still!

Good to know. Thanks Carrie! I gained 6 from appt. to appt. this month and I was a bit concerned. The nurse did explain that as you get bigger, the stomach gets smaller and you'll feel full more quickly so the weight gain will slow down soon. I felt much better. I haven't gained that much total so far, but I'm not as worried about gaining as I am about losing after the baby's born. Thanks for the info!

Just yesterday I was looking through my booklet I made when I was pregnant with Ian, and I noticed that I gained 17 lbs in month 5&6 with him... so it totally makes sense.
Now I just have to lay off the ice cream for a few days...LOL

Yeah, I've always gained the most around this time. They say at the end of your pregnancy, you usually stop gaining weight and you stay the same weight around birth.

I've decided that since I already got a guy to marry me, I might as well grow a new butt from this pregnancy. I'm up 22 pounds so far... and counting.
Now where did I put those donuts???

I sure hope that, that is the case. I have gained 10 pounds so far. My last pregnancy I gained 12 the whole pregnancy. Which if funny, because I eat much healthier this time.

With Nik I gained the most weight in the late 7th month to my 9th month ending it at 35 lb. weight gain.
I think I'm gaining weight the most now and I don't even know what month I'm in. Fifth month?

Gak! I'm not even in the fifth month yet and I've already gained 17.5lbs! So that means I'm really goint to pack it on in the next two months? Great. And I'm hungry all the time, I can't wait until that slows down. I just ate a bun with cheese in it, and I feel like I didn't eat a thing.
