I am about to give up and find a new name. We are not sure which way to spell it that people would know how to say it. We go back and forth about it and i just want a name for this little girl so i can write it down. We are now going back and forth between...........

Aleah
Alea
Aliyah
Aliya
Aleia

It might be these hormones today but i am just feeling sooooooooo upset about this! LOL Most people either say spell it Aleah or Aliyah but then the Daddy said he thinks it should have the letter A on the end of it. Someone please help me i am going CRAZY

I think Aleah is a great way to spell it! I have never seen it spelled Aliya or Aleia?
We had the same conversation about Cearra but I finally won that argument.

Hi, I just wanted to pop in from lurking and mention that my friends daughter's name is spelled Alia, so that would be another suggestion.

Personally, I like Aleyah or Aliyah. I know you don't have the first one up there, but that's what I like best. Good luck with your spelling decision. It's a beautiful name, regardless.

I think it's a beautiful name so don't give up if you love it, but I think the easiest two are the ones you mentioned...Aleah or Aliyah. I'm a teacher and I've seen the MANY ways in which people spell their children's names and it's definitely helpful when you can at least take an educated guess. I know I'll for sure be picking a name that people can pronounce. Good luck.

What about Alya? (edit: nm I think people would pronounce that "al-ya")

I have a friend who named their daughter Aliyah

I love the name! I like the Aleah spelling the best, but Alia is nice too if DH says it has to have an A at the end. Either would be pronounced correctly I think.

Definitely go with Aleah. Aliyah might be mistaken for "Ah-lie-ah" ...same with Alia....people might say "ay-lie-ah" or "ay-leah"....

if that makes sense! Aleah looks good. Or drop the H if hubby wants and go with Alea.

My thinking is that if you spell it Aleah or Alea people will pronounce it "A-lee". I don't think that the spelling Aliyah will be mispronounced much as there was that singer with the same name a few years ago and in my opinion it's still recognizable. We went through this with the boy's middle name we chose, Cohen. I even did a poll here for it because I was so up in the air about it.

I think Aliyah is more straightforward pronounciationwise than Aleah, because I see A-LEE when I read that.

I think Aliya could work too, if he's insistent. I'm a Sara with no H, so I kinda see where your dh is coming from.
