We are pleased to announce the arrival of Asher Donovan to the Heiner household!
Asher was born on June 30 at 10:50am. My labor started at 5:30am. I hardly realized I was in hard labor before it was time to go the hospital. Mark came home to be with me at 7am. My contractions never really got closer than six minutes together, even though I was in a lot of pain. Mark had an appointment at the court at 9am with my sister, so they left at 8:45am, saying they'd be back in an hour. I said sure, no problem. After all, first labor lasts for hours, right?
My mom was w/ me at that point and she helped me through the contractions, which I appreciated. At 9:15am, though the contractions still weren't closer than four or five minutes, I felt like they were too intense and we needed to get to the hospital. We called Mark and Amber at the court and told them to meet us at the hospital. I told my mom to drive as fast as she could! We got to the hospital around 9:30am and had a room shortly thereafter. I was able to relax quite a bit once I had Mark and Amber (especially Mark) w/ me, and my contractions eased up so much that I even wondered if I'd jumped the gun. The nurse checked me and said to the other nurse, "Can you check her just to make sure?" and the other nurse checked and said, "She's at a 6 1/2." and the first nurse said, "that's what I thought too, but she's not screaming, so I doubted." I really wasn't doing too bad! and then they said I was complete, and the dr said it was time to push. Poor Amber! She and I had practiced all kinds of distractions and relaxation techniques, and it all happened so fast, she didn't get to do any!
So the pushing was absolutely awful and I was a crazy woman by the end. It didn't last long but it felt like forever, and Mark said he couldn't see me behind my eyes, I was somebody else. I just wanted that baby out!!! And he did come out, and even though it hurt so bad then, it doesn't hurt now, and we've got a beautiful baby boy!
Asher weighed 7lbs 3 oz and is 19 inches long. He doesn't look at all like Jacen and is very fair complected, like Mark. Jacen is doing well w/ having a new brother, especially since he got some toys out of the deal. Asher still things night is day and day is night. Yeah, I'll be working on changing his mind as quickly as possible!
and of course, the pics...
