View Poll Results: Have you planned to go back to work?
Number 5. is because of what DH mentioned the other night that he would love to have a little girl... That he wouldn't mind if I wanted to stay home until both are in kindergarten. I just looked at him like are you nuts? I love being a SAHM but we have financial goals we can't reach unless I work. I'm going back to work part-time ASAP after my LO is 6 months (at most 12 months) or when I can find a great sitter. So I picked number 2.
On a side note...
I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER KID. It's not that my pregnancy or labor was hard. I love my little man and he quirky personality. I'm a firm believer of a woman knows when she's had enough kids, and 1 is enough for me!
Well...I don't really fit into any of those categories. I went back full time, but now I'm just working PRN(as needed), so pretty much parttime. Only 2-3 days a week at this point. We aren't preventing pregnancy at this point, so we'll see what happens.
I definitely would want to keep working here and there where I am now if I get pregnant again, for the benefits of working at my ob/gyn office.
I'm not sure where I fit!! I'm currently a SAHM, and would love to be until Aaden starts school. DH & I are planning on TTC after he's probably a year & a half, so then I'd love to stay home with that baby, too. But financially, I don't see that happening. I'll probably end up getting a job within the next few months. Unless we strike it rich!

Start being more frugal! Figure out ways to cut back on non necessities (eating out, expensive cable packages, get cheaper cars, etc). There are lots of ways to reduce costs! But I know some people still HAVE to work!
I am not planning on going back to work but I will be going back to university to finish my BA. DH has a phenomenal job and gets great pay so there is no need for me to return. I would really love the opportunity to homeschool my children as well.
I am working really hard on trying to find a job that I can do from home.......our bills just seem too much for just him to work.....I own an art gallery (That I work at on the weekends) but it doesn't make enough for me to just do that.... Right now I am trying to get on at a university as online faculty.....I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I really want to be able to stay home with my children.

I had to go back when Logan was 6 weeks old. I'd have loved to stay out longer, but I didn't really have a choice financially or from the job. I love my job though, so its a bittersweet thing. It definately makes it easier to be away all the time when I enjoy being at work though!
I go back to work a week from today, so Abby will be almost 11 weeks old. We need both incomes and I make more than my husband, so if anyone were to stay home, it would be him. I always thought I'd love to be a SAHM, but I don't think I'm cut out to stay at home all the time--I think if anything, I'd need to work at least part time for the interaction and satisfaction that I get from work, but even me working part time isn't doable right now.
I quit working when I was months pregnant with Ani and have been a stay at home mom ever since. It's one of those things that is extremely important to me so we've always made it work. I'll be a SAHM forever since I homeschool.

I've been a SAHM since the day Brinlee was born, in May 2005. I don't plan on going back to work until Izzie is in preschool, so another 3-4 years. However, since I will be done with school next summer... if a situation arises (financially), I'd have to go back sooner. Let's hope not I really enjoy being a SAHM! I can't imagine not being at home with my little ones, teaching them, seeing all of their firsts, etc.

With the exception of getting cheaper cars (both of our vehicles are paid off) we've become more frugal. We only buy what we absolutely need when we go grocery shopping, we've reduced our DirecTV package to the smallest one, we've gotten an unlimited text message package so we're not paying for every sent & received text message, we've stopped making pointless trips places, & we've cut back a lot on eating out. Granted we do still eat out usually once or twice a week, but we can spend just as much money on 1 meal out that we would if we bought everything for it in the store.

YAY for having paid off cars! Not many people can say that nowadays!
I wasn't making those suggestions specifically to you, just in general. I based that on what I see when people ask for a budget...they'll say they can't figure out how their money is all gone, yet they'll have 2 car payments, huge cable packages, tons of eating out, etc! I've seen ones where the car payments are more than their rent/mortgage or aer nearly half of their income!

Oh I know! I'm happy we were able to get my car paid off, or else I'd be back at work this week!

i 'm a sahm mom and have been for 7 years. I work at home on occasion and come sept i may have a steady WAH position (crosses fingers for luck) It would certainly help us pay off our debt. I also have my own WAH position in the works but it could take up to a year before I start seeing anything from it
ehh, i'm back at work now. i came back last week and not that i wanted to. i had to because we're not in the financial situation for me to stay home, unless that is if i would have a wah job which i would love. maybe before its time for mackenzee to start kindergarten i'll be able to be home for that.
I just recently became a SAHM after Isaiah's birth. Right now, I think I may return after he starts kindergarten but I may decide to be a sahm forever. I am really loving being home with my kids.
