i've always had my yearly done then, but since i've already had mine this year...i'm wondering if i need to go. i just don't see the point.

I think it is also to check for healing if you needed any.

Exactly. At our office, we do a pelvic to make sure the cervix is closed. They check make sure that you abdominal muscles are closing back together so you on't risk getting a hernia. There's also the talk about birth control, as well.

I'd say that it is very important for you to go. You just gave birth, and your physician can check to make sure everything is healing properly, can make sure your cervix is closed, that your uterus is down to where it should be, and that you aren't have any problems. I definitely would not skip the postpartum check-up.

Ditto what everyone else said. They need to be sure you are healing properly and what not.

I think it is to makes sure that you are completely healed and your uterus has shrunk back down.
