This morning was my 38 weeks OB checkup. Everything looks good! At my appoitment last week I was totaly closed and not effaced. At this appoitment I am now 1cm dialated and 50% effaced. While my doctor was checking me, she said I was having a contaction. Well I have been getting mild contractions ever since I woke up this morning. I am hopeing this is it for me!! what do you ladies think?

At my 35 week appt. I was at a 1 and 70% effaced, at my 36 week appt. (last week) I was at 2cm and 80% effaced.......it all just depends on the person I think. For the past couple of weeks I have been feeling like it was getting close and now all of the sudden I feel nothing. I am just praying I dont get stuck at 2 and keep making progress like I have been. However, with DS I was at a 1 when I went into the hospital and ended up having him that night. So, like I said, it really all depends.

I am trying not to look too much into progression, I've gone up 1 cm every appt...my 35 week I was 1, 36 week 2, 37 3 cm...I have my 38 week appt tomorrow and we'll see...I've stayed about 80% effaced. I thought last night was my night, I had painful contractions about every 10 minutes for hours and then they just up and left! I am trying to remain patient, as we all are. We do, however, share a due date so I know exactly how you feel

I don't think dilation is a sure sign that labor is anywhere near; women on this board seem to have been dilating for a while, now, and still haven't gone into labor. Of course, it's definitely a step in that direction!! As far as the contractions, are they regular? Intensifying? I'm glad you're seeing some progress, though. My 38-week appointment is tonight, and I'm hoping to see some similar results. All those contractions hopefully did something to my cervix!
