I was curious as to what is normla with regards to PP bleeding. I know I had heard some BTDT moms say that it is normal to bleed for 6 weeks. But I imagine that it is not like period bleeding the entire time. After a while is it just spotting? And does it stop quicker when you are BFing?

After delivery they were worried that I wasnt stopping bleeding at all. The following evening while trying to BF I nearly started hemmoraging blood but it slowed. 2-3 days ago it seemed to taper down a little. It would only happen after pumping or BFing.

Today especially I have been wondering if what I have is normal. My pads are soaked every time that I go to the washroom. the last time I went I passed some clots. One was about the size of a chickpea. Is it normal for it to taper off and then come back much stronger at 11 days post partum?

Thanks

I didn't have any bleeding at all yesterday but it came back today. I don't remember with Nattie. I think it would slow down somewhat...I hope I don't bleed to 6 weeks pp, I am going back to work Dec 1

Well, I had a c-section so it may be alittle different, but I bled for about 3 weeks. At first it was like a heavy period then like a normal period then it would go away for almost an entire day then I would bleed some. I have not had anything though for a almost a week, I think.

I also had a c-section and I bled for about 3 weeks also. The bleeding for me would seem to be going away and then pick back up if I was really active that day. I have heard that passing some clots is normal but if they are large then to bring it up to your doctor. My bleeding went just like a period, heavy then started to lighten up and then spotted and then it was gone. I'm not sure if BF'ing does anything to it. My doctor did say that I could bleed all the way up to 10 weeks but that most woman dont go that long. I know when you have a vaginal birth you will bleed longer because when you have a c-section they try to clean you out as best then can so not so much left to come out. I hope it lightens up for you soon.

I am BFing so I don't know if it has something to do with it, but I delivered my posterior baby that left me with 12 stitches on Nov 3rd and my bleeding is still there but no where near soaking my pads anymore. It's like when you're at the end of the middle of your menstrual cycle...make sense?

Sounds like you and I had similar experiences on the same day. LJ was born Nov 3rd delivered posterior and I ended up with a bunch of stitiches too

Yep

When I wake up in the morning my pad is usually really heavy with blood, but its not bright red anymore. During the day however there isn't much blood. Is your pad soaking up during the day? How many times do you have to change your pad during the day? And are you wearing the heavy absorbent pads?

Im only slightly bleeding now. Light pink or sometimes brown. Like the other ladies said if I am active during the day it tends to pick up again.

it is bright red blood with some clots. I am wearing Always overnights. If they were regular size I would say they would be soaked every couple hours. By the time I have to pee it needs to be changed. Not every little spot of the entire pad is covered but enough of it and it is totally bright red still
