So, our company announced today that they are decreasing all employees salaries by 5% effective this Saturday. We are a medium-sized company of about 4000 employees. We've laid off over 800 ee's in 2008 alone. I know I should be happy to just have a job but this 5% is going to be painful for our family. DH has been laid off for over 2 weeks and it is looking grim for him too...

I think we're just starting to see the impact of the recession and it's going to get worse before it gets better. My optimisim is waning. How's everyone else holding-up?

Well DH has been laid off since Oct 08, two days before Madison was born and theres no idea when he will get called back. So we're both relying on unemployment. We're starting to tighten our belts more and more each month and so far we're makink ends meet.

At times like this I am so happy to be a military family. I really hope things start to get better for everyone!

sorry to hear that. I am a SAHM so my job is safe... my husband works in the cable industry. It isn't recession proof but usually people still need phone/internet/cable.

I'm in Michigan, we have been experiencing the recession for quite a while. I'm particularly close to the Big 3 auto companies, being in the suburbs of Detroit. I worked for Chrysler until Christmas when I was officially laid off, along with 95% of the other contract workers there. So I am a SAHM now, which is a total blessing since I didn't want to go back but couldn't afford to quit.

We have been feeling it here for a while, unfortunatly the rest of the country is catching up to us now. I hope everything turns around quickly for everyone.
