Cause I really do NOT get it.

I shoot for a daily caloric consumption of about 1500 calories a day. Some days are 1300, some days are 1800, but that's my goal.

I work out at least 3 days a week, doing about 60% cardio and 40% pilates/muscle toning.

I don't eat refined sugars or enriched flour. I don't eat pasta, potatoes, or rice. I'm allowed 2 slices of bread a day and it is always whole grain, and most of my carbs come from vegetables and fruits.

I upped my exercise intensity recently. I've lost a half inch off my hips since Christmas and 3/4 of an inch off my waist. But, my weight keeps popping back up. I did get down to 141, but now it keeps bouncing back and forth between 141 and 143.

I've heard that you can gain weight in muscle. Could that be what's going on with me? I do, like, seventy squats a week. Given how achy my butt normally is, I could reasonably be building muscle there. But, isn't muscle supposed to burn calories quicker? So why do I weigh more?

I'm searching for answers here and having a hard time. Any help anyone can give me is mucho appreciated!!

I totally understand how tough it is Jilly and am right there with ya!

I do know that muscle take up less space (so you see inches come off) but does weigh more so even though you are seeing smaller sizes you may not see a reduction in the scale.

Another possibility is that you have hit a plateau and need to change up some stuff to push past it. I wil check my WW book about plateaus and see what I can find for into to help you past it if that is what it is.

I say if you are losing inches then you are obviously making progress even if the scale doesn't show it. Probably what will happen is you will the same weight for a week or two, then suddenly you'll blast off like 3 lbs at once or something. How much do you care to bet that next week sometime you'll wake up 138 lbs?? Ha ha.

I think that you should stop in at the Weightloss Board and ask Tonya. She's a fitness trainer/nutritionist and she'll definitely be able to give you some advice.
