Well there is now ALOT of cases around here of the flu! They are mostly all confirmed h1n1! and it's not far from here. one of the reserves is even on lock down cuz there are so many cases. i am thinking that the vac. may be a good idea now. still so not sure tho. by the time BC is done and making it's way to Sask, hopefully they will be more sure of the side affects. that is the scariest part....not knowing! ARGH! this is so frustrating!! all the dr.s here are now trying to push it to the fullest extent. saying that absolutely everyone should be done and for those not getting done, they will not be covered under 'sick leave' therefore not getting paid it you get it and have not been vaccinated. man alive this is crazy!

Last I heard, here they are no longer testing to confirm if it's H1N1, they are just assuming and sending people home unless they need treatment. I guess that kind of makes it pointless to try to compare what is the seasonal flu and what is H1N1, however that seems to be the strain that is dominant this year anyway. I'm not worried, despite the number of cases, it hasn't proven to be much more severe than any other seasonal flu

Sara, I really doubt that people who don't get it will not get sick leave. That is illegal. If you feel u dont want to get it, they cannot make you. Its completely your choice to or not to, and don't let people bully you into thinking otherwise. I hope you all stay well!

We have five confirmed cases in our school of 240 students. One is in my class and one is in Iris' class. I have to admit... I wasn't worried about it until a baby at our church dies from it two days ago. Now, I am freaking out. I am terrified of Amelia getting it...

Its scary i know. Im scared of Charlie getting sick with anything let alone a really bad flu. Ive stocked up on wet ones and i wipe down the swing at the park and are hands when we get back in the car after being out. Im still not getting her the vaccine.....i think i would get it for myself before giving it to here to make sure i dont bring home anything.

It seems like there have been more cases of it around here or at least thats what Im hearing it is. We get the regular flu shot but I dont think we are doing H1N1. It still scares me though...just because its getting so hyped up...it is scaring a lot of people I think.

A lady my mom works with, her granddaughter has it..and the Dr told them not to tell anyone its the Swine Flu...weird

I watched a thing on DR. OZ, I think that is the name of the show, I was folding laundry when it came on & they were complaring a cold, the flu, and H1N1. All the symptoms for the flu were the same for the H1N1, so the only thing that makes it sound worse is that they are telling you when people die from it. I wonder if people die from the regular flu?

There are actually more cases of death with the seasonal flu than the swine... the big freak out is because it is spread so much faster.

Well, i guess that puts my mind at ease a little. I've never gotten a flu shot & don't intend to start now. I just take a little more precautions when it's flu season, and it seems now that flu season is every season.

Yes, people die from the regular flu as well, although the H1N1 DOES seem to be hitting more younger people, whereas the seasonal flu seems harder on the older population.

I work in a school 2 days a week, there are confirmed cases there. When I took Collin in to the doctor for a cold, his doctor said half the kids she had seen that day had probable swine flu. It's definitely going around, but she said it hasn't shown itself to be any worse than the seasonal flu. The scary thing IMO is of how early it has spread and how quickly.

I try not to panic, it won't do any good. All you can do is try to protect yourself and your family the best you can, but you can't hide out in a hole. Well, you could, but I would definitlely go crazy if I didn't go anywhere or do anything just in case of getting the flu

I was told similar things Heather...that so many people are probably walking around with the swine flu that doesnt realize it and thinks its regular flu
