For some reason, every time I do the 30 Day Shred, my shins and feet hurt really bad. My feet cramp and my shins just plain kill. I have no idea if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's just not a good workout for me.
Does it bother anyone else? I don't want to wuss out on it, but I also don't want to do something that's going to hurt my body. What should I do?
Sounds like shin splints or maybe just DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).
I get shin splints & DOMS when I do step ups at the gym for some reason. I don't know what kind of moves you're doing to get them with 30DS but it's not necessarily bad and honestly, I usually work through the pain. LOL A lot of times when muscles are sore from a leg workout, the best thing is to work through it... has a lot to do with the buildup of lactic acid in the muscle... yada yada... I can go into detail if you want... But I think the important thing to remember is, pain isn't bad, just a sign that you're shocking your body & muscles.
Something else you might want to consider is doing some exercises specifically for those muscles, to strengthen them... and I vouch for bands. You can get them at Walmart and you basically use the bands to stretch the muscles in your shins, feet, ankles ect... so you might wanna look into that if the pain continues.
I see now you posted this on the 13th... has it gotten better?
Kelly, my shins hurt this morning during 30DS! I'm on Level 1 and it was during the final strength training circuit, when you're doing the side lunges while lifting weights. My left shin was KILLING me!
I attribute this to not working out for a whole week, but I wanted to let you know I experienced it too.
