I've been working out regularly for a week now (big deal, lol!) but my problem is that I can diet or exercise, but I can't do both. By diet, I just mean eat healthy foods in normal-not-oversized portions. It's so not hard to do when I'm not working out, but add in an intense workout, and I find myself S-T-A-R-V-I-N-G come 9pm. How do I avoid this??? I know I'm getting enough calories throughout the day and my body is just trying to cling to what it's got, but if I'm going to loose, I have to figure out a way to get passed this!!!

Are you eating "healthy" foods that will fill you up? Lots of fiber (veggies) and protein? Maybe add more veggies that will fill you up (can't really have too many).

Also, are you drinking enough water? I know they say that when you feel hungry you are more likely dehydrated than hungry.

When you get hungry at night are you craving something in particular? Or just food in general?

What about doing a flavored tea at night, something that may be sweet to trick your body into thinking it's getting it's fix?

Wish I could help. I have the same problem! I've been working out like a pro, but I suck at dieting. I've decided today that I'm giving up carbs and sweets for the week. I need to get it all out of my system and then maybe I won't crave it so much.

probably the biggest problem i see is your mind set on "dieting". You're not dieting, your changing your eating habits for the better. Just try to eat a good dinner in the evening which includes lean protein and also include fiber. Both will fill you up.

And i agree with about the water thing. Youre body may be thirsty, try drinking some water or warm tea.

When all else fails, sometimes I just go and brush my teeth. I *hate* eating after I've brushed my teeth so that works for me. Or how about chewing gum? That used to help me too although I know it makes some people even hungrier.

Sara-
It's actually the opposite. I don't consider myself "dieting" at all. I don't diet, lol!

I seem to mostly crave sugar at night when I work out. I'm really good about getting at least 8 glasses of water, if not more. I've been snacking on fruits and veggies during the day, but that's so not what calls my name at night. We'll see how it goes tonight. I know I've got to just stay strong, lol! I might try having some flavored tea. That's a really good idea.
