So I'm here..........LOL I lurk all the time but never post, it's kind of been that way for 2 years now
Back story, about 5 years ago when I met my husband I weighed 196lbs and had just started to work out and watch my food intake. 9 months after meeting my husband I went down to 134lbs! I am 5'11 so that is pretty small. I went from a 10/12 to a size 0! After my husband and I got married we were pretty sure we wanted to start trying for a baby. My OB refused to give me prenatal vitamins until I gained weight. At that time I was even skinner.........I was about 123lbs! My BMI was very low and I was underweight. I won't lie I definately had an obsession at that time, but I have been a "bigger girl," my whole life and losing weight was like an addiciton to me. So long story short I gained all most 30lbs in order to concieve Carter!
When I got pregnant with Carter I weighed a healthy 155lbs. Well........during my pregnancy I could NOT stop eating! I craved french fries and shakes all day everyday! My job has me on the road a lot so I would smell fries at fast food chains and pull in. Ultimately I gained a TON of weight in my pregnancy. I ended up delivering at 224lbs
After Carter was born I had a bought of PPD and just "didn't care," I lost some weight but gained it right back. I kind of half assed dieted and worked out but probably around last September I became pretty serious about working out/diet. Ultimately, I ended up weighing MORE than I did at delivery
The problem was I wasn't loosing any weight, and I actually started to gain more : |
I went to my doctor because I was concerned that maybe I had an issue with thyroid and/or diabetes since I have a familial history of both. Blood results came back with a shocking surprise! I actually had a severe vitamin D deficiency! Normal levels are between 25-80 and my level was a 9! So I have to take Vitamin D supplements now (prescribed at like 50,000 MG's weekly). Good news, no thyroid or diabetes. I brought my food/exercise journal to my doctor who reviewed it with me, gave me a few pointers and said that he would put me on Adipex-P to help with metabolism increase for 12 weeks. Reading on this stuff is enough to scare you to death.
However, I started the pill on 2/23/10 and have been AMAZED at my energy level/weight loss. I'm definately holding myself more accountable for what I put into my body and I am trying my best to work out each day, but sometimes I take a day or two off depending on what my body is telling me.
Since 2/23/10 I have lost 20lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
Here is what I'm doing
Addipex-P once a day 37.5mg's
Exercise=Cardio on eliptical runner 30-60 minutes a day (or every other day depending on my energy level), I do change the workout program to fluctuate the resistence daily so my body doesn't become "accustomed" to the program.
On days that I don't do the eliptical runner I will do the Winsor Pilates Maximum Burn series (about 60 minutes)
Diet is KEY. No more soda's I've been using this website called fitday.com to keep an accurate track of my food/calorie intake. According to the website I can eat 1700 calories a day to reach my goal of 2lbs per week. However, I kind of feel like thats a lot so I try to keep it at 1500 or less (but no less than 1200!). If you eat fruits and veggies and other things that are "good" for you, you actually feel pretty full!
