Well, go figure that I'd have exactly zero contractions or anything after heading to L&D on Tuesday night! I did go from being "pretty much" 4 cm to definitely 4 cm and about 70% effaced though. So that's good news! However, on the way home I realized that when I was at this point with Kaija I was in the hospital and getting pumped with narcotics... I actually was glad to have this appointment today though because we hadn't discussed birthplans or anything like that yet. I'm really pretty flexible with all options. Ideally I'd like to do everything as naturally as possible. But if it comes to induction, it comes to induction. If I want drugs, I want drugs. It won't be the end of my world. I mostly want to avoid pitocin due to the increased chance of bad jaundice. I'm expecting some, but would like it not to be soo bad like it was for Kaija. No one at the Dr. thinks I'll make it to next Thursday. At this point I'm not so sure they're right. I need some of Kristen's zen peacefulness!!
Yay for a good appointment! I really like your mindset, your birthplan is basically whatever makes sense at the time for the situation you're in. That is the best way to ensure the prefect birth experience, because no matter what happens, you won't have missed expectation level.
And I agree you won't make it to next Thursday. My guess was next Wednesday.
Maybe you will be like my sister was with her 2nd. She was 4-5cm for about 4 weeks before going into labor. By the time she felt her first contraction and went straight to the hospital she was already at 7cm and pretty much in transition.
