We've had a lot of talks over these last few days. And, for now, I've got my diaphragm in. It doesn't change what we've done the last few days, and my opk today was almost positive today. In the end, it's possible that David will be deployed until December, and we'd be moving in January. I don't want to do a whole pregnancy without him, and then have to find a new home birth VBAVBA2C midwife in less than a month, potentially.

If it happens from what we've done, so be it. Then it was meant to be, and we'll be happy regardless. Things happen. I mean, this is really the first time I've used the diaphragm, and the spermicide expired in Jan. But, I'm not going to buy any new stuff. So, either the barrier works, or it wont. I believe the failure rate of it without the spermicide is 20%. I'm willing to accept those rates.

So, we'll see what happens. (But, less suffice it to say, we're getting in a lot of practice! Where did this libido of mine come from?!?!)

So, I had my first ovulation cramp today. That means ovulation is any day now. Last day of unprotected sex was Saturday. I had partial ferning on the saliva tester this morning, and I haven't taken the opk yet, but it was almost positive yesterday. This is going to be interesting!

Well, I'll tell you! LOL

As you get close to ovulation, your estrogen surges. Estrogen is salty, and when dried, it makes a fern-like pattern. It begins to appear (transition) around 3 days before ovulation. Then, when the whole image is ferned, that means you are, or you have already ovulated.

Here's a picture of the three different saliva results and an ovulation microscope. It's the size of a tube of lipstick.

Here's a better picture of it

Okay, I don't think you can get a more positive opk than I just got.

This is going to be an interesting 3 weeks!
