So, after gaining 50+ pounds with Logan, and then working hard to lose it, you would think that I'd have learned a few things. I had it all planned out that this time would be different. I'd eat healthy, and exercise the whole way through.
Yeah, right. I'd forgotten that when you have severe nausea and M/S, a salad or fruit either oftentimes doesn't sound very appetizing or comes right back up. Puppy chow, however, (or anything else involving chocolate) sounds good any time of day, and stays down just fine.
I'd also forgotten that it's pretty hard to make yourself exercise when you're totally exhausted, dizzy, and nauseated.
UGH. Does anyone else have this problem or do I just have no self-discipline?
I agree - you just do what you need to do to get through that first tri! The baby is fine, living off of your blood supply and fat reserves, and you just need to function! I ate a lot of watermelon because it made me feel better, but no other fruit or vegetable touched my lips until 12 weeks or so, and I wasn't even THAT sick - it just made me gag thinking about it! LOL.
I got in an argument with MIL last night b/c a friend of ours is expecting (backstory, she has a posessive weird crush on this guy and hates pretty much any girl he dates) with a really nice girl who he has been seeing for about a year...and MIL is bashing her to me saying "no wonder she's sick, she doesn't eat anything, she's too skinny, she needs to eat a balanced meal plan and lots of fruits and vegetables"...really she's just jealous because this girl is DROP DEAD gorgeous...but I kinda laid into her about forgetting how bad morning sickness can be. She doesn't even KNOW what this girl eats, she's just assuming based on her figure. Ok, sorry for the mini rant, but what you are doing is NORMAL! LOL
I'm still feeling a little sick and having major trouble finding food that I can stomach, so if it is a brownie than so be it. I agree with everyone about not beating yourself up. I am drinking the V-8 fusion juice that has a serving of vegetables and fruit in it so that I get at least that, but seriously I am struggling with food. Oh and I was so exhausted, there was no way I could exercise.
I am in my 3rd tri now and still DOWN 2 lbs from being so blasted sick. You eat what calories are appetizing, keep up with your multivitamins so much as possible (Target has DELICIOUS gummy ones, but beware they have *no* iron. (I didn't realize and am now on extra iron supplements. Boo! )
GL! Just a few more weeks and the worst is over...for a few months anyway! Don't beat yourself up too much.
