Okay, Jack's got a skinny little neck like me, and whenever he gets a cold or anything the lymph node on the left side of his neck swells. Because his neck is so skinny it really shows. Freaks me RIGHT out.
I had the doc check it at his 2 yr appt, and he said it was normal and just a weird thing that lymph nodes do. This morning his cold is starting to get better and the node is bigger than it was, say, a month ago - which makes sense, since the node is how your body fights off germs and kills an infection.
But UGH, it weirds me out. I am trying not to Google lymph nodes - I did a bit already and it said that 99% of the time they're just a kid's system's response to a bug. He is otherwise fine, sleeping okay and eating lots, and just has a runny nose and a lump on his neck.
Anyone else's kid get swollen glands that freak them out?
It sounds normal to me - Elizabeth's doesn't do that but MINE does! My left lymph node in my neck swells all the time when I get a cold or a sinus infection! So to me, this seems normal esp since the doc is telling you it is & they don't seen cause for concern.
Nolan also always gets one on his skull behind his left ear-he's always done that since he was little when he's fighting a bug. Dh gets the same thing. They just go away on their own, come to think of it, I have the same thing behind my left ear.
