what kind of cake are you doing or getting?
Last year I made a carrot cake in an attempt to have a "healthy" one lol, this year I really want to do a chocolate cake but I'm scared I'm going to have a sugar loaded monster by the evening .
So what is everyone else doing?
I'm either going to use yellow cake because Carter doesn't like chocolate or get one made and decorated at the local bakery- depending on if I find something cute and easy that I can make with the theme.
I'm using a white cake recipe, but I'm using food dye (Ah!) to make it a rainbow cake. White fondant to cover and some cool stars on sticks with a big two in the middle.. We're having a Yo Gabba Gabba party but I'm trying to not go too crazy on the cake this year. I think having a white simple cake with the rainbow inside will be a big hit!

I've become obsessed with the idea of making a german chocolate cake, I love chocolate and I love coconut so sounds like it's a win win
I'm thinking I'll also do cupcakes and will decorate those according to the theme of the party, maybe I can put striped cat in the hat hats on them or something..... hhmmm my mind is racing lol
The cupcake idea is cute- I usually decorate cupcakes somehow to go with the theme. Maybe you could find candy somehow to make into the shape of a hat to put on top of the cupcake and then use peel licorice
If you didn't want to do cupcakes you could use some sort of flat cupcake and put frosting on it and then stick a Swiss Roll on top with white frosting on it and wrap red licorice around it or something. (Can we say sweet overload??)
We will be purchasing some sort of Dora confection. I AM NOT making this year. Last year I went all out with three types of cupcakes and a gluten free giant cupcake and it was so stressful. I am a perfectionist and a control freak-this year I just can't deal. Lol.
