Well we had our follow up appointment with my OB today to discuss the results of my hsg and dh's sa...she said everything looked great and normal, she didn't seem the least bit concerned that a few things were slightly low on dh's results like the progression forward motion of his motility, it was a little low, and the shapes of his spermies were less them optimal but only slightly, she said that all changes from each ejaculate and improves when more stimulated and of course he wasnt the least bit stimulated for his sa. I do need some advice and opinions though, she said since our results were normal we don't have to do IUI...she wrote me a prescription for 50mg of clomid next cycle for days 3-7 and said we can either try clomid and natural dtd to increase our chances with more targets or go for clomid and IUI next cycle...what would you do? Would you give clomid a shot or two naturally if everything was looking fairly normal with dh's sa or would you increase your chances even further, pay a few hundred dollars, and go for IUI? I am still hoping for that surprise BFP this cycle

I would just do the clomid and then if that doesn't work do the clomid and IUI. Good luck!

^ i agree! maybe now that your dh got just better results than last time, the pressure will be off a bit and help your chances even more. if just bd'ing doesnt work then go for the IUI.

I would go iui. While the results are good it still has been a long road. I would splurge for that better chance at a Christmas bfp!

Ditto to Devon... I think I would try on your own with clomid and after the new years if it doesn't work try IUI

I'd go clomid and then IUI (which you won't need

Tough call! You've been trying for so long that I would be really tempted to just go for the IUI. If there's a bit of a problem with forward motion (and I'm guessing here since I'm no expert on this), but what about a home IUI kit like Heather tried? It's probably a fair amount less expensive and would reduce the distance the sperm would need to travel.

Either way, I think I would try another cycle on just Clomid and move on from there. Maybe the Clomid will be just the thing you need. Good luck!

I always recommend only going to the next level of medical assistance if it's really required. I know IUI isn't really that intrusive, but given that all is "normal", I would still give clomid a shot for a couple of cycles before the IUI.

Welll..... My DH's is above average, excellent on all counts, and we had 2 IUI's... the first failed (timing was off) and the second ... well... Kellen's sleeping in his swing now

I'd go with the IUI, especially if it's covered by your insurance. It can be more costly because you should be monitored more closely with an extra u/s or two, but it can really boost your shot!

Thanks everyone, after thinking, praying, and talking with dh we've decided that we'll give clomid a shot with regular bding in December, if no BFP, we will be doing IUI/clomid in January...and of course we tried all naturale this cycle. Our IUI's will not be covered by insurance, its out of pocket but its going to be in the $250-$400 price range, we won't be doing monitoring and only using clomid. I am just to take the clomid days 3-7, take opk's and once I get a surge, call, and then come in 24 hours later and do IUI...I know it makes me nervous not knowing how many follies I'll have but I believe God won't give me more then I can handle, but lets just hope there is already a teeny tiny bean in there now, I ovulated yesterday
