Anyone got any great tips to get that last 10 pounds off? I have lost 16 pounds and am down to what I call my body's comfort zone (where I was in high school and at several times in my life I hover around this number). Now I just want to lose 10 more pounds and I seem to be stuck. I watch what I eat (and have cut my calories by 500 a day). I work out every day 45 minutes of cardio, 20-30 minutes of weight lifting, and 20 minutes of abs. Just wondered if I stick with it if it will eventually come off or do I need to make some change again to my diet and work out regimen? Any help would be appreciated as I'd like to get this weight off for good now that I'm done having babies

I will tell you what my hubby tells me (he used to be a trainer back in the day) change your workout routine, if you normally do the treadmill change and do the stairmaster, or eliptical, if you are already changing up those machines then switch cardio to an aerobics class or do sprints or something. per him (I am no expert on this) your body gets used to workouts so you need to trick it into losing those last 10lbs, those are the hardest to lose. congrats on your weightloss so far!! also if you are lifting weights you will hold on to some weight, that is where I am at right now, I am lifting and my clothes are fitting better but the scale never really moves much anymore. so don't get to stuck on the number more on how you feel and how your clothes fit.

Thanks Kim! I do feel better and my clothes fit better but it is hard to see that number stay the same after you work so hard week after week. I do change up my cardio but think I need to add something new to get this stubborn last bit off Wish it were warmer here so I could just add an evening workout to my routine like biking, walking/jogging etc. since finding an hour and a half in the morning for the gym is hard enough right now.

When I did Weight Watchers last time, I got down to my goal weight and a little beyond. (the official goal weight anyways). But I wanted desperately to see the 130's. I don't know why. I just wanted to get down lower. I should have just been happy where I was. I was down to a size 8, but for some reason I was obsessed with that number. Anyways, the scale would not go below 142 for me. No matter what I did. Sometimes our bodies do just find that comfort zone. My WW leader told me that if you stick to what you are doing, it will eventually come off, but she mentioned things like what Kim mentioned, switching up your exercise routine, changing up your diet, etc. WW focuses on healthy choices too, are you getting your dairy servings? Are you getting 2 servings of a healthy oil per day? Are you drinking all your water? Etc... those are just the things that leaders will mention if you hit a little plateau. Maybe focuse a lot more on getting more protein in this week, and see if it shakes things up for you.
Trust me, I know how hard it is to work so hard, and not see the results you want on the scale. We tend to get fixated on it. But if your clothes are fitting better, you're definitely doing something right. Also, take measurements. Sometimes, if the scale isn't moving, but the measurements are going down, it can be a big boost!! Afterall, muscle does weigh more than fat.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Linette! I have been eating very healthy but maybe I'll try cutting the carbs and boosting the protein like you said to see if that gets my body going again. I know the scale is both my enemy and my friend depending on the day so I'm trying to focus on feeling better/more energized and how I fit in my clothes that sort of thing, but it can be hard at times and that number you have in your head is hard to ignor. Guess it also pushes me though and keeps me on track

Finally back on track! I upped my protein and water and hit the interval training hard and I am now 3 lbs from my first big goal. From there I want to try to lose another five to ten pounds as a cushion for when my weight fluctuates. I won't stress so much about hitting that number because even now I feel great and like how I look so whatever comes off after these last 3 pounds is icing on the cake! ( couldn't help a food reference here)

Jillian Michaels book Making the Cut is all about losing those last 10 lbs and how to do it. The HIIT is amazing and you may throw in some boot camp circuit training! Thats my favorite!
