However, there are a few things that i either hate making at home because of the mess or really don't do well and can almost always find better while out:
Lasagna - i make a killer lasagna, but it takes all flipping day and the cleanup is horrendous. I really only make it once, maybe twice a year because it's such a process.
Chili - for some reason i've never found a chili recipe that i love, no matter how much i tweak it. Honestly, my at home chili is a combo of ground pork, ground beef, sauted bell peppers and onion, a can of diced tomatoes and a mix called six gun chili mixins. We have this awesome place nearby called hard times and they have four different types of chili, and their cincinnati version is out of this world. I also have this weird fascination with sampling chili from all over - it's really one of the few dishes that is supposed to be different wherever you go, and i love that.
Thai food - but it has to be authentic, not food court in the mall garbage. Japanese too, same way.

amen!
Huh, I don't have any issue making Lasagna at home and prefer it to shore/restarant lasangna. But I do confess when I do make it at home i usually make 4 dinners worth and stuff them in teh freezer. Same with stuffed shells and manicotti.
