I have set an appointment for next week to have my Mirena IUD taken out. I have heard several people say it's taken them a long time to ttc after having it removed so I want my body to start getting back on track.

On another note, they are having to pre-certify the removal with my insurance since it is being removed prior to the 5 year time frame. They said some insurance companies will not pay for the removal if you do not keep it the full 5 years. I wish someone had told me this when I got it. I now have to wait and see if it will cost me $30 or close to $500 to have it removed.

Woohoo! I kind of hope we somehow have a TTC game plan in May when I have my annual check up so I can maybe do the same for the same reason.

But that's crappy about your insurance! WTH? Hopefully they don't charge you $500 to have it removed. Ugh.

I think it is a good decision, even if you guys decide not to TTC, at least you gave your body time to prepare. Some people take long to conceive even without the IUD... so giving the body time to get back in gear is a + for your chances.

This is exciting!! Your TTC journey is officially starting. I really hope the insurance pans out because $500 to have it removed is no joke, holy cow.

My insurance is covering it and they are moving the removal up to tomorrow at 10:15 am since they got it confirmed ultra quick with insurance.

DH said he is absolutely not going to use protection after not having to for the last 1 1/2 years so it looks like as of tomorrow we will be TTC.

His only condition in the beginning was if we were going to do it that we start ASAP to limit the age gap between Kate and the new baby.

He says that it doesn't matter how long we wait the result will still be the same. I will still want another baby.

I am anxious and super excited.

Yay! I can't believe some insurance companies would charge $500. If that is the case I would try to pull it out myself.
