We got so much candy for Easter this year. It is sort of ridiculous. There is more candy in my house right now than we had at Halloween!
Thea got quite a bit from her friend's birthday party Saturday (which included an egg hunt - was such a cute party), then Justin's mom brough her a basket that was full of candy. It was one of the plastic ice cream gallon sized ones. And then Thea also got a huge chocolate bunny from her great-grandma. And this was all before she got her basket and did her egg hunt here at home. At least I was smart enough to get mostly small toys and such and only a few candy items. I had a feeling she would already have plenty of candy.
Anyone inundated with candy this year?
Lexy got a bunch - mostly mini eggs, hershey's speckled eggs and jellybeans. I didn't get her any huge chocolate bunnies or anything, and our family all lives 4 hrs away, so they just got cards from their grandparents. That said, I made birds nest cookies for Lexy's preschool Easter party, and I used mini eggs as the eggs in the nest. I have one ENTIRE unopened bag of mini eggs left, and probably 3/4 of a large bag of them as well. I also have a huge container or jellybeans. Thankfully I have really good self control when it comes to this stuff, for now anyway, so I don't touch it.

I get so irritated w/ Easter!! I'm born & raised Catholic & while I don't attend Mass more than once or twice a year it drives me CRAZY that both my family & DH's put such a huge emphasis on CANDY & easter basket goodies in general! We saw my mom the week before Easter & she gave us more candy than the four of us needed. Unfortunately, it didn't stop. The kids' sitter gave them each a basket w/ a coloring set & tons of candy. Easter morning my kids got from our Easter bunny baskets w/ a few small toys, an Easter themed book, toothbrushes & two eggs of candy each (jelly bean & Reese's pieces filled.). Get to my in-laws & they each had a basket from great grandma, chockful of chocolate. Then my mil gives them baskets & points how there's almost no candy, one chocolate bunny each. But they do get stuffed animals, cars, crackers, fruit snacks, a bracelet & a hat. Finally, my mil (no candy, remember) has set up an egg hunt... 21 eggs EACH! Inside? Candy! And what do my 1 & 3 year olds get? Now & Laters, tootsie rolls, bubble gum, etc.!! *sigh*. Easter night, after the kids went to bed, I took out everything that wasn't a peep, reese's product or m&m and put it in my work bag to give my students. It was ridiculous - almost as bad as Christmas! -rant over-
I really really limit candy. She got a small bag of jelly beans and a package of ring pops.
Candy makes her very very hyper and she tends to act HORRIBLE when she's hyper lol....
I don't eat candy that often anyways, but Daddy on the other hand....grrrr.
I also really try to limit candy. So family members "take pity" on my kids, like I'm super mean for only letting them have a reasonable amount during holidays. Everyone gives them so much candy!
I filled a couple of eggs with candy, but what I did was I used some of the candy that my aunt had given them! They don't know the difference! My aunt gave them a huge bucket of candy and toys. Enough candy to fill two gallon sized zip top bags. I've been eating the swedish fish LOL those are my favorites. I also hid 2 eggs with a peep inside and made sure each one found a peep egg. Jonah got a put put golf thing that was filled with jelly beans, Eve got an egg with jelly beans, and they both got one of those tubes of m&m's. Their baskets from home and eggs we did here were full of small toys, books, jewelery etc.
Then I made peanut butter eggs to take to my MIL's house, and I made "cadburry cream fudge." So of course they got some of that, which isn't bad except we got to MIL's and she also filled buckets with candy for them-just as big as my aunt!!! A whole bag of eggs filled with candy. Every kind of easter candy you can imagine sitting on the counter, and my kids had full access to it all weekend. Even if I said no, they were snuck pieces!
The bad thing with Jonah is that we have him on a mostly dye and preservative free diet to help with some of the obnoxious behavior and autistic tendencies that he presents. Most candies violate this "diet." But for special holidays I am willing to allow a little. But then family members completely ignore what I tell them. "Poor guy" they say "It's a holiday!" they say. Well maybe THEY should deal with him during the aftermath of all this, then! LOL

Thank You, Pattyandthemoos, for my beautiful siggy!
The boys did both get an easter basket with candy from the church egg hunt, but it wasn't all the much, and it also had things like granola bars and fruit snacks.
from the Easter bunny we had one family basket with jelly beans, reeses eggs and miniatures, hersheys kisses and cadbury eggs. I let the boys have the reeses eggs and half the kisses and some jelly beans. the rest DH and I ate haha!
