I'm doing some early brainstorming for party favor ideas for the girls' 4th. Also, for Ben's 2nd, even though he's not in this playgroup. What do you think - bubbles only? Or a favor bag? (Both would have custom thank-you tag. I bought a flower burst 2" paper punch, and will print the note off my computer.) Bubbles are a lot less expensive, but maybe too boring?

Do you have any plans yet for the 4th birthday? I know it's a long way off, but I'm thinking about it now because our local Kiwanis club just scheduled their annual Fiesta on the girls' actual birthday. It's perfect! It's held in the community park 2 minutes from us, has bouncers, mini train, pony rides, zip line, you name it. We'll meet in one corner for cupcakes & let the kids loose.

actually, we have a decent plan in place, We will be combining both boys into one party, Nate will be 4, Adam 6.

WE are having an Agent P/Perry the Platypus party.

we are going to have a "where's perry scavenger hunt" we are going to put "platypus" eggs out and most of them will be filled with candy, this will be the favor, one will have a perry in it, and that person will get a special prize...

going to also have pin the tail on perry and phineas and ferb musical chairs, the highlight I am sure is going to be Doofenschmirtz' make your sundae-inator

Those both sound like great parties, Lisa and Ami!
I would just give a nice size bottle of bubbles or maybe a bubble wand (I think they're pretty cheap at Walmart). I HATE, HATE, HATE normal treat bags - usually just a bunch of junk and bad candy.
For Aaron's third birthday, I don't think I gave anything. I just invited some neighbors with kids Aaron's age over for cake and ice cream and said no gifts. Everyone brought a gift, though.
Depends on money for us what we do for Aaron's 4th birthday. I know he'll want a party of some sort. If we have the family over, that's 30+ people and it costs several hundred dollars to feed them for the party. If we can't afford that, we'll just invite the neighbors again and have cake and ice cream.

Lisa, I think bubbles are a great favor! I'd much rather my kid come home with those than a bunch of junk food! I've just started thinking about Josiah's bday... we haven't done a kid party prior to this year, have just done something fun as a family. Last year we were on vacation the week of his birthday, so it turned into kind of a birthday week extravaganza. My grandparents are going to be in town this year. I'm thinking we might get one of the firepits at our local beach, where they have play equipment too, and just invite some of our friends from church who have kids Josiah's age, along with my Mom, brother, and grandparents. We would roast hot dogs and s'mores and just spend the day playing in the sand. The beach is Josiah's favorite place to be, and I like the idea of just keeping things simple, doing an activity that Josiah enjoys rather than a big birthday party, especially since his bday always falls Labor Day weekend.

I love that you're putting personalized thank-you's with the bubbles - I never thought of that! And bubbles are great! I did that two years ago for Dom. Especially with summer birthdays, if you let them have the bubbles right away or in the middle of the party they can use them & be occupied for awhile. When I did the bubbles I also gave away really small containers of sidewalk chalk (wal-mart had them for $1 each). This also kept the kids busy, allowing the adults to really relax & enjoy the party.

Dom & Ella are having a combined Thomas the Train party (might be generic train themed, haven't decided yet). I really love reading & so I'm thinking of having a variety of books to choose from as a party favor. I also plan on having tattoos that the kids can put on and printing off a bunch of coloring pages as another activity. I'm hoping to do a pinata and a scavenger hunt, so the kids will walk away with a few candies & other goodies, as well.

I like the idea of the sidewalk chalk even more but the bubbles are a great idea too!
It's coming up fast for us. FOUR months. Crazy. I am not sure what summers are like here so we will probably wait to decide what we are doing based on that. I've always wanted a birthday party at the park but when we were in Arizona it was out of the question. Summer is obviously horrible there. lol

Love bubbles and sidewalk chalk - we usually do those, plus a coloring book.

Lily has requested a Disney Princess party She wants an assortment of berries, cake and tea party type sandwiches. No clue on what we are doing besides that though.

I usually do bubbles, a kazoo, and a "healthier" snack. Jonah wants to have his party at the minor league baseball field. One of the events I took the kids to had a table for the team, and they were talking up their birthday parties. Apparently you can have your birthday party at a game. The guy totally ignorned my frantic "shut up!" motions behind Jonah.... now Jonah is OBSESSED. His teacher told me that he already has invited his classmates. He picked a baseball cake from a magazine and will get the magazine out just to stare at the picture of "his" cake. I've tried to take it away. He finds it. I saw on Pinterest that you can actually write an invite on a baseball and mail the baseball. Since it will just be family and very close friends, I thought that might be fun. Not sure what will be the favors; I am not giving any kind of food for sure, because I am too nervous about the life threatening allergies of some of the guests. (they say they can be there with the nuts, but I am still worried)

For Eve, also two in June, we might be doing a variation of this:
Firetruck 3rd Birthday Party | | Kara's Party IdeasKara's Party Ideas
She is OBSESSED with firefighters and fire trucks right now. Obsessed. She told me she wants a fire truck party. I don't know, I kind of want to see if this obsession sticks before I hash out all of the details. Tomorrow she might be off of fire fighters and into, I don't know the purple people eater or something! I know she would also love an ice cream themed party.

We don't have any plans yet, probably rent a bounce house again. That was awesome last year and Delilah LOVED it. Not that expensive either, I think it was like $120 for 8 hours, and the company dropped it off, set it up, and picked it up.

We usually give treat bags with something useful...here are things we had in ours the past two years:
sidewalk chalk
stickers
fruit snacks
coloring book and crayons
straw with a cup
personalized thank you note
