I was actually coming here to post this, and it's funny because I just saw the green poop thread LOL. Well this is poop of a differnt color

Yesterday I found a beet in my fridge. I needed a beet for a recipe a made earlier in the month, and they only came in bunches of three at our store. So I had one left over and forgot about it. So I decided to just chop it up and put it in our salad last night. I cooked it a little, but just enough to bring some flavor out and soften it a tad. It was nearly raw still though.

I personally LOVE beets. But this is the first time that the kids have actually eaten a notable quantity of raw beets.

Today when I took them potty, I about had a heart attack!!!! So just a little tip/note for you all: raw beets cause stool to look blood tinged. I was really freaking out that maybe they had eaten something when my back was turned (my kids are like little goats. They eat everything) It took a while of me fretting and thinking to realize that it must have been the beets.

LOL I am so glad it was just the beets but that is pretty funny.

I just changed Nathan's diaper a few minutes ago and it was bright BLUE! Like you I did a run down of what he could have possibly gotten a hold of. Then I remembered that I let him have a Cool-Aid juice pouch on our picnic yesterday. A BLUE Cool-Aid juice pouch

I have never in my life tried a beet. Don't know why I am so afraid of them. As far as I know my kids haven't eaten them either. But just in case we do ever consume them, thank you for the PSA.

What was really concerning about it, is that the beet dye kind of spread out in the potty water, it looked just like blood would, but a bit more purplish which is what made me double think that it was in fact blood!

Cara, you should try beets! They are actually really sweet. They taste almost like carrots, but sweeter. I like them pickled the best, but I will eat them cooked almost any way, especially in salads.

ohhh my gosh Nikki! Do you remember he flavor of Hi-C called Ecto-cooler? It came out when the ghost busters movies were released in theaters. It was like a greenish blue color. My mom let my little brother have some, and it turned his poop play-dough blue. It was hilarious. My oldest sister was baby sitting us, and she thought he had eaten a whole container of play dough! All three of us girls were standing around his poopy diaper trying to analyze it, finally she called my dad and he let her know that he had the punch. We still tease my brother about his play dough poo haha

We love beets here too. And yes the first time I gave Brenna them the diaper freaked me out...but I also freak myself out..everytime *I* eat them my urine is red/pink. Always scares me until I remember I ate beets LOL. I was actually surprised they didn't stain the cloth diapers!

Jess I would have had a heart attack!

I love beets, but I have found American ones to be very bland.

I have had my share of bland beets. I think the key is to prepare them properly. There's a restaurant down the street from our house that has a "beet plate" and it's local beets prepared in different ways. delicious!

I did remember freaking myself out after I ate the stew that I had made with them earlier in the month, the kids wouldn't eat that though so it was just me at that time. That's what ultimately made me think "oh yeah, it's the beets." But I had never noticed it before. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention LOL
