I had my first appointment today. Blood pressure was good and I got a paper for my labs and signed a paper for th first trimester screening.
All looks good except that she says that my uterus is measuring about 10-11 weeks. By dates I am nine weeks tomorrow. So off to an ultrasound next Thursday for me so we can check my dates. This didn't bother me because I know my dates are on and because it gave me a chance to see baby before the 11 week ultrasound.
However now that I am home I am worried... I measured bigger than dates later in both of my pregnancies but never this early. Now I am concerned... What if t is twins. Has any one had this happen and been sure of their dates? What was the outcome??
My uterus consistently measures about 6 weeks (or more) ahead of where it should be in every pregnancy I've had, after the first one. I've never had twins and it always evens out by the end. In fact, after about 25 weeks, it's usually more normal measuring. I think it is very normal for your uterus to be bigger than normal in second or third pregnancies. It's like it knows what to do now and is eager to get going.
So it really isn't anything to worry about. It's fun that you get an u/s though!
Mom to 4 boys and 1 girl
Mine measured big and we even thought we heard 2 heartbeats this time. Talk about a freak-out. Got the ultrasound at 13 weeks and saw it's just one little baby in there. 18-week ultrasound still just one little girl. It's just that 3rd kid thing.
Thanks girls. I always measure big in the second half of pregnancy but always after 24weeks. So this is new. The nurse practitioner has been in on for more than 30 years and she seemed quite convinced that it wasn't because it was my third.
