Periodically, for the past week Ethan has been waking up between 11:30-12 crying. I go in his room to see what's wrong and he is grabbing himself and says he has to go potty. He doesn't drink anything after dinner except a couple of sips of water before bed. I have no idea what's wrong and why he cries uncontrollably until I get him back in bed. Anyone else experiencing or experienced similar behavior?
He does use the bathroom and then I walk him back to bed and he goes right back to sleep. Last night he wanted a drink of water at 1 which constituted crying and then had to go potty at 5. I don't know how he's going to function at school today.
BUT! He is TERRIBLE if he has even the slightest sniffles or something hurts - he just cries and screams and you can't get out of him whats the matter.
That is Leah exactly. Or if we suspect she's had a bad dream. She cries and flips out and it takes forever to calm her down or even get her to tell us what's wrong.
She very rarely needs to go potty in the middle of the night, but I sympathize with the freak outs. My guess is that whether it's needing to pee or a bad dream or whatever, it maybe wakes these kiddos up so suddenly that they're disoriented and just break down.
