I had my first appointment this morning. They did an u/s, an exam, and drew about 15 vials of blood.

But can I just say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my doctor?! He is awesome! The u/s tech said that everything looked good, we could see the heartbeat, but that the baby was measuring about 5 weeks and 5 days instead of the projected 6 weeks like I thought. So I get to back next week and get another u/s and hopefully by then we'll be able to hear the heartbeat as well. The woman who drew my blood was amazing--I didn't even have a clue that she'd stuck the needle in my arm! They gave me this huge goodie bag full of samples and some coupons and magazines and a copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting. Then my doctor came in and did his exam and he prayed over the baby which just about did me in because I'm hormonal and about started crying. And when he left he gave me a hug--and I've never hugged one of my doctors in my life, but it seemed the right thing to do.

If every doctor's appointment that I went to was like that, I wouldn't dread going to the doctor so much! When DH gets home, I'll post u/s pics--although there's not too much to see right now.

wow I hope mine goes that well!! I doubt the army has dr. that nice though..LOL I am so happy for you that everything went so smooth!

I am glad you like your doc! He sounds great! I hope I click with my new OB when I get one. Glad everything is looking good

Oh my!!!! Can I move where you are at?????? That sounds like the most wonderful appointment you could ever dream of! I'm glad everything is going well with the baby in all. Enjoy your ultrasound pics. I hope my dr appointment goes as well as yours.

That is awesome that your doctor is like that...it makes the pregnancy super special when you have a doctor you really like!

I also love mine but am so disappointed that Im not going to see him for my first check up.....they now make you see the nurse practitioner first and she does the first exam *ugh* so not looking forward to that!

Anyhow....AWESOME that you got to see the little heartbeat! I hope I get one done when I go!

Sorry - lurker. I have to ask what part of East TN you are from. I live about an hour from Johnson City. If your doc is in this area, I want to have him for my very own!! LOL
